  • Kennard Davis to BYU... could it be for the money?
Multiple reports say that BYU has possibly the largest basketball NIL fund in all of college basketball, well in excess of $10 million. - https://sports.yahoo.com/article/byu...171040518.html
According to Jeff Goodman, the BYU NIL is $12+ million - https://www.sbnation.com/college-bas...ransfer-portal
And there are other reports that it could be closer to $20 million, just for basketball.
They already signed the top 2025 high school recruit, A.J. Dybantsa, who reportedly got $7 million in NIL.
And they just signed a Baylor transfer, Robert Wright, for $3.5 million - https://x.com/GrayGrundhoefer/status...57398048178183
Plus they have signed three other 4-Star recruits.

There are claims that they have a football NIL fund of $40 million. - https://www.cbssports.com/college-fo...lege-football/

        Coach.
        I am disappointed in you.
You are thinking that dollars alone played the role in Davis' move West.
He might have picked up the "Book Of Mormon" at the Carbondale thrift store..
He might have been visited by LDS missionaries spreading the good word..

Or the Provo nightlife. Or the marvelous Utah desert weather.
(But Kennard do remember hang on to your hat..)
To sum. There are millions of reasons to head to the original BYU.
It is so regrettable to see you focus on one minor aspect.. $$$$
I just shake my SE Idaho head.. (Smile)(Smile)(Smile)..

        • SIU makes the unenviable list of schools hit hardest by the portal - LINK

I'd love to see where the other MVC schools rank, but it requires a membership.
I'm kinda surprised Murray State wasn't on there, or Drake, Valpo, Evansville or UIC.

Murray State & Drake do appear on the mid-major list of schools landing portal players

            ....
With all those quality players SIU lost, how did they finish 14-19 and tied for 8th place?

The same website has Murray State (ranked # 3) and Drake (ranked # 10) in the mid-major Top 10 Portal Leaderboard - https://x.com/ThePortalReport/status...60159927763073

Of course, this doesn't guarantee success. Recall that a lot of people thought Missouri State had an awesome group of portal recruits a year ago. It got them a 2-18 MVC record and 12th place.
