He kind of calls out Coach Les on his honesty. Pesonally I dont think its so bad for a coach not to disclose the status of an injured player before the game starts.

    Can we start winning soon?

Media types always get upset when they aren't in the know. The story is whatever it is.... Its JL's choice...its JL's team. He gets to make those calls. Get over it reporters.....

Wessler can cry all he wants, every coach would have done the same thing in that scenario. There's a reason why most coaches don't reveal game time decisions, even though this was obviously far from one. The more ways a team has to prepare for a game, the better it is for the opposition. With that being said, however, it didn't help BU one bit yesterday.

JL needs to stop kidding himself that other coaches adjust to him this year.

Wessler: "Whatever. When it comes to standing up to the truth, Les could learn a thing or two from his freshman point guard."

Yeah Kirk, that's gonna certainly get Les to open up to you for future stories!?

Les to Wessler: "You're dead to me Fredo."

How is Wessler or Reynolds -- or anyone for that matter -- to believe anything that JL says though?

I think it's a joke that JL lied about it on Friday, regardless of the newspaper. But from their perspective, don't you think they feel like it makes them look bad? Saturday morning, the paper says Ruffin is a game-time decision because that's what JL told Reynolds. Saturday afternoon, Paul Herzog announces before the game that Ruffin is out indefinitely after surgery on Friday.

Les can lie or do whatever he wants to do with the media. If Jim feels he is doing the best for the current situation that is all that matters. It is his team.
Basketball doesn't build character it reveals it.

That's a great example to set for a group of college students.

LTL here we go again. I really think this is silly. I personally dont care if this makes a reporter look bad or not. (especially a reporter from the urinal star) Like I said on last night's thread. Les did what any other coach in the country would do to make the opposition take more time to prepare for the game. This is a part of sports.... The UNI coach saw through this.... no big deal....

                        Kirk da jerk

Kirk Wessler's quote from today's pjs:

"When it comes to standing up to the truth, Les could learn a thing or two from his freshman point guard."

Kirk, I hear that you look through some message boards... If so, why on earth did you have to ruin a fairly decent article with this garbage quote in the end. Guess your feelings were hurt that you couldnt get a "scoop".

Kirk, can I have a little cheese with your whine?

Yeah because UNI had NO idea that Ruffin probably wasn't going to play. It didn't take a genius to figure that out. But for Les to straight-up lie about it publicly is beyond shady. Should WE as fans believe everything he says now?

Give me a break. Coaches have been doing this since the inception of injury reports. Is this really what we need to be worried about?

Wow...this entire discussion from Wessler's take on down, is filled with lack of knowledge..

Ruffin went to see the New Jersey specialist, and the decision to do surgery was NOT even made until Friday.

Even Wessler admits to that fact...
and even the doctor doing the procedure might well NOT have known the extent of the recovery time until the procedure was finished, because he didn't know what he'd be doing until he got into the abdomen to see exactly what needed to be done.
So how could Coach Les have known early on Friday, when Daniel Ruffin and his family were not told the results and the outcome of the procedure until later on Friday.

Oh, and one more more personal thought...I will not be surprised if DRuff IS back before then, he is a tough cookie.
