Bradley signs deal with CBI

Sounds a bit confusing as to the various "contracts" that were signed by different teams. You have Bradley forfeiting the NIT (not that they had a chance anyway) by committing to the CBI, you have Houston already officially invited to the CBI, and then you have Virginia who's still in the running for both! Who's kidding who here?!

Did Bradley pay the 60K it costs to get into this tourney?

As tornado said, there is no payment needed, just a guarantee of a minimum gate receipt. I would assume that the agreement Bradley made with the CBI did accept this guarantee.

I have also talked to someone involved with the Comcast broadcasts. They do not know if they will be able to do the telecast, but they are on standby in case it can be arranged. It would seem more likely they would telecast it if it was a road game, less likely if it's a home game, but still a possibility. We will know more tonight, and tomorrow.

If Illinois loses today and get invited to play in this CBI tour. then this tour. is a farce as you cannot give invitations to teams with a losing record and expect fans to believe that this is a good tour.; only teams with winning records deserve to play post-season unless you are able to win your conference tour. and get the automatic bid ; if they invite teams that have losing records then it is more about the money period.

Did you really believe this wasn't about money?

Would a gate receipt guarantee of $60,000, and the CBI gets 40% does that really mean BU is guaranting paying the CBI $24,000? That is really easy to get, but that does not include paying the PCC.

I don't know how it breaks down. Maybe the 40% the CBI gets is after all the expenses are paid. There are also high travel and accomodation costs involved.

8000 sold tickets at 20.00 each would bring in 160,000 so I do not think you have to worry about making money after paying for rent and all other expenses plus the concessions bring more revenue.

Upper bowl seats normally have a face value of $8 (endzone) or $10 (Halfcourt) and last year's 8000 for NIT included half price $8 tickets... ($4)

There is also income from TV and radio, as well as sponsorship, game programs, and promotions, and BU likely gets a cut of the concessions, too.

Ruff gets to play on another senior night. I am excited about that. Wednesday is right in the middle of spring break, so I don't know how many students are going to show up. But imho any chance to make the season last a little longer is good.

If they give us the student section, I'm sure the regulars will show.

If we do get a home game, I hope it doesn't turn into the screwjob we have to deal with over XMas break. I plan on traveling down from Chicago for this one but I'm certainly not going to sit in the upper bowl.

This will make the Braves the only team that has played in the inagural year of each of the postseason tourneys.

This is not correct. Though extended an invitation, BU did not play in the 1939 NCAA, and would not play in the NCAA until 1950.

As an aside, BU did defeat the 1939 NCAA champs Oregon earlier in the year, and the Harold Olsen coach of the runners-up Ohio State Buckeyes had coached Bradley for one year.

The two reasons cited were loyalty to the NIT, which had started the previous year, and the fact the players did not feel they could defeat Oregon a second time.

We are, however, the only school to participate in all the college basketball postseason events held for which we were eligible.

After the point shaving scandals in '50-51, there was a backlash against NYC-based events. In 1951, Bradley hosted its own National Championship Basketball Tournament (NCBT) and also participated in a tournament in Hawai'i.

And then there were the Commissioner's Classic bid in the 70's and the 2008 CBI.
