Lots of good things

1. I dont think that ISU got shafted. ...

2. Memphis plays some patsies ...

3. I think that the committee got a lot of things right. For example the ACC ...

4. My one major complaint with the committee is the continued practice of having mid-majors who have the potential to advance in the tournament play each other in the first round.

I agree somewhat....except.........
--ISU had a much better resume in my opinion than several at large team, most notably Az, St. Joe's
--Memphis is in and a #1 seed, so who is there making any argument here?
--How could the ACC go 5 deep, when the 5th best team in the conference would be Florida or Va Tech.
Florida finished 8-10 in the ACC and has 14 losses, and Va Tech had 13 losses and an RPI of 56, and just who would be their quality wins?
They have only one win vs. a team whose RPI is under 60 (over #34 Miami) and they have numerous losses to teams over 100 RPI.
They also finished 5-5 down the stretch and lost in the 2nd round of their tourney.
Va Tech's non-con SOS was 137!
--this one I agree on.....they really don't want Butler getting to the Sweet Sixteen again.

Somebody remind me why St. Joe's got a bid. South Alabama's good, but USA over ISU!?!?!?

St. Joe's got in because they beat Xavier twice, Villanova, and Temple.
South Alabama beat Mississippi State and Western KY twice. Not horribly impressive, but they did more than ISU did.

ISU beat no one in the NCAA tournament field...they had three chances to beat Drake and failed....and most importantly they failed miserably in the last attempt against Drake on national TV.

I think Dayton was a bigger snub than ISU...Dayton beat Louisville on the road, Pittsburgh, Temple, and St. Joe's at home...they just lost to a few too many of the mediocre A-10 teams to get in.

This is why I love this time of year as there are so many debates. I hope that the NCAA does not expand their tournament to more than the 64-65
teams.


First off. I think that Arizona and St Josephs deserve to be in over ISU.
ok-- AZ has an 18-14 record, but their sos is 2 and their non con sos
is 5. They also have some nice wins on their resume. ER3 pegged my opinion on St Josephs in his post so no need to repeat what has already been said there. ISU's resume simply isnt that good.imo

My response to Memphis was about the qoute about them playing a bunch of "patsies". They did play some patsies but they also played a lot of qualtiy as well. Memphis scares me in the NCAA's though because of their 56% freethrow precentage which I think will come back to haunt them in the tournament.
