BU signs a new player- 6'7" Taylor Brown- Dunwoody, GA

Only time will tell........I will trust Jim on this one. I still want a report when he gets here from anyone getting a chance to see him play with the team.

Coup? Who said coup? Did somebody say coup? Ben . . . did you say coup? I don't think I said coup.

He had a BCS offer. That is good to see. That makes me feel better. Nuff said.

You crack me up brocks

Thanks for the laugh.... I needed one today :)

The Bradley roster still shows Rashad Austin, though he is now officially no longer part of the team and will be removed soon.
Taylor Brown is not yet listed on the roster.

In high school, Taylor wore #3. That number is assigned to Darian Norris.
In his brief stay at Bevill State Junior College, he wore #34. That number is available. I wonder if Taylor will wear #34?
Apparently Taylor will not arrive on campus until the start of the fall semester. We'll keep an eye on the roster page.

This already raises a red flag with me. He isn't bound by an LOI due to his late commitment, so in theory he could still be fielding offers. He's already pulled out of one place prematurely. Technically now he's our 12th scholarship rather than our 13th, so his departure would leave us with only 11 scholarship players. Maybe it's a little paranoia on my part, but Xavier Crawford's situation 2 summers ago raised red flags with me, Austin's absence raised red flags with me, and both of those situations didn't work out. If it was our 13th scholarship, it wouldn't be as big of a deal. Now he's our 12th, and the worst-case scenario leaves us starting shorthanded already. I just don't feel comfortable with it.

Well, maybe the staff isn't done recruiting for the 08-09 season yet, remember rumors were circulating that Austin would not be back in May, so it isn't like the staff would be REALLY far behind if it is necessary to grab another recruit.

This is a shame, but really no surprise at all. Maybe the TBrown commit actually had something to do with it. Wish him well . . .

I think things will be OK.....the 1st two Browns didn't graduate (ray and jermane) and I'm saying third time is a charm! Taylor Brown will be here and everything will be fine! Now let's try to wrap up McGee with the final ride...I'm more worried about getting him on campus for a visit than I am getting Brown here this summer!

This has been a (thankfully) quiter summer than the last couple. But I've learned to expect thet the staff is always ahead of us, and often up to something sneaky. Every departure seems to precede another "announcement." I suspect there's something waiting in the wings.

I got red flags raised all over the place..... but they have white "BU" on them. ;)

Joking aside... I share your paranoia.

I'm actually not too worried about Austin transferring. Worst case scenario, you can bank it and zero in on someone for next year.

It makes the sudden if not odd signing of Brown make a little more sense, i.e. they have a plan for this scholarship.

You've stated the feeling I just had when reading that information to a tee.

You guys are a little paranoid! I hear Taylor Brown is 100% committed to BU! Rest assured he will be here. His committment came very late in the summer, so he is too late for summer school.

Agreed...besides why "worry" about something out of your control.

He'll be here. You think I'm going to break the news and have it blow up in my face.

ENJOY.

Dru......:)

We should be elated that we were able to get a player that is 6-7 and 200 lbs. at this late of a date; it is also great that he is a freshman and will be here for 4 seasons . This should be another very interesting season as we once again have good size and it appears we also have a lot of scorers; the one thing I believe that will be better is our defense and rebounding.

How many different ways can we say "sleeper" w/ this guy? Only time will tell but he may be one of our top players in a year or 2 if he is as good as his father thinks he is. We all say bigger players and then get worries when we get one.

I'd be worried about any kid not signed to an LOI who isn't going to be around until the beginning of school, regardless of his size. At 6'7" 190 with his pedigree and eligibility, he's definitely worth a flyer.

Question for those with time to look this up - When does a players 'committment' begin if he doesn't sign the LOI? Does it start when classes start, when practices start, or at another time? Just curious.

Worried? What for? The most that can happen is that he doesn't show up at the begining of the school year, but that doesn't sound like it will happen and if it does what have we lost? Did we use a scholarship that someone else was going to use? It doesn't sound like it. Am I concerned that he hadn't had any mid-high offers out of HS? Not at all as it sounds like he may be a late bloomer. If he is willing to put in the work then he will do OK at BU and we become the overall winners.

If he doesn't show up and we don't fill the last scholarship, we start the year with 11 scholarship players. That's only one more than a program (Indiana) that's about to have the hammer laid down on it. I'm sorry, but with him not being bound by an LOI, it's a legitimate concern.

You could carry such concerns to the extreme. Any one of the current scholarship players might not return for the fall semester. There are currently 2 guys, Andrew Warren and David Collins, who aren't on campus and won't be back until the start of the fall semester. What if they don't return? (No worry, they will).
Rest assured! I just talked to someone today who told me Taylor is excited to be coming to Bradley and can't wait to get here.
