Possibly more player woes at Illinois?

Illinois may struggle to score points without Jamar Smith, but now another returning payer appears to be in Bruce Weber's doghouse.
Returning 5th year senior Calvin Brock, who may need to provide some offense this year, is not doing enough in the off-season to keep Bruce weber happy.
Check out this article, and read a little between the lines, and it appears Weber is either trying to motivate Brock by threatening his place on the team, or he Brock is really on thin ice.--

...the coach acknowledged there was “some doubt, definitely” whether Brock would be allowed to return for what would be a fifth season at Illinois.

They need his scholly

McCamey is gonna be their one-man show. He is a ton. One-man shows can carry teams when other players fill their roles. UIUC is still gonna be good. Weber will be secure with his job and UIUC will ultimately be in the 2011, 2012, and 2013 Final 4's with at least 1 if not more National Championships.

Is that a joke? :-o

"Returning payer" ? Is that one of those Freudian thingy's Coach?

Weber makes no bones about sitting or abusing players who dog it or can't make the time requirements set for running and conditioning drills. Brock is alot like that other guy who just graduated- a ton of athletic ability but the head is a liability.

If Brock's attitude isn't good then it won't make that much difference to the team. He only had a few flashes it seemed when he played...
It's not that big of deal

Note that DeAndre Liggins has likely qualified, and I've heard that Richardson is in better shape than Liggins was going into his senior year.

Sources have told FOXSports.com that both Liggins and Galloway – who will likely battle for the starting point guard spot – have both been cleared by the NCAA.

Here's an update from Paul Klee, who wrote the original article mentioning that Calvin Brock may not be with the team this season:

Brock continues to work out with the team and I expect he will be with the Illini this season.

You are, perhaps, referring to the story I wrote about Calvin Brock last week. It is Bruce Weber's hope that Calvin takes on a significant role this season -- he can give them something they don't otherwise have, a Brian Randle-like versatility. I took Weber's comments to me to be a sort of challenge. (For Brock, not for me.)

Calvin has played hard and well, particularly in the open court, in recent pickup games. Weber said workouts will start in earnest after Labor Day. Calvin Brock will be there.

Sounds like Weber was trying to use his comments as extra motivation for Brock.
