"Privileges" taken away

A lot of you guys are right now pulling out of the stock market when this is the time to hunker down if you did not pull your money out 6 months ago. You really should be putting money in because during times like this is when fortunes are made. I in short believe a great foundation is being built and if we stay the course with our investments and keep playing the young guns we'll be fine.

For those that have hopped off the bandwagon your off because it's not circling back for those fair weather fans. I can see where this program is going and I really like what the future holds. The real problem I do have with the current system is that it maybe a bit to cerebral for the players and for now until they really learn where they need to be they are thinking to much on the court instead of being proactive. Four year players will cure this. Besides SS, who knows this system in their sleep and has been at BU forever, know one else has been in the system that long. He knows what to do but just does not have the athletic skill to compete at the highest level. We have seen what the system is capable once all the players get it. This gives me great hope for what we are going to witness the next few seasons. So relax everyone we are in good hands. I believe and I say, "Yes we will!"
 
To me, this sounds like a bunch of people who talked Bradley up to high, are just mad they didn't live up to THEIR expectations. Personally, I think that the Braves are exactly where I would expect. Young and struggling, without their best player. Why freak out when the best player is on the sidelines and you are playing with primarily newcomers? AW makes every single one of these players better when he is full strength. He makes each player better, as well as the whole entire team. Can't expect the world without him at strength.

Go back and check those years that Creighton lost Funk and ISU lost Bryson. Those teams underachieved those year, when they would have likely been NCAA teams.

Facts are facts. I am sorry you are tired of hearing what is a proven fact. I think it's unrealistic to think a team should overcome the loss of the best player/top scorer. It's not going to happen. If Bradley doesn't get AW back this year, we will see them struggle to beat good teams.

come on, seriously...you're going after TW?
the guy works as hard as anyone you'll ever see and gives 100%. We are fortunate to have him. Where would we be without him?
Butler is a good team and they've beaten everyone else they've played this year...plus they hit all their 3's...sometimes it just happens.

Without Theron we lose by 25, he freakin' carried the whole team at times and dunks on their 6-10 guys.

If you're gonna rag about someone, please show a little reason here and pick someone other than Theron Wilson.

And while we're on the subject, I'd like to hear from the anti-SM cult...
Sam was 6-9, 17 points, and 4-5 from outside the arc.
He also gave 100%, and I applaud him for his fine game!
 
One question, since we seem to have got away from the original post. If the coaching staff is so good and we are playing so bad, because of how young we are, then I have to wonder how come Butler, w/ 3 freshman and a soph starting could dominate us so bad? We were out husteled and definately out coached. They had an open look almost everytime down the floor compared to BU getting an open look maybe every 6-8 times down the floor. We only run one basic offense compared to Butler running 4 or 5 different sets and running it to perfection almost every time down the floor.
As for the players EM is light years ahead of SM at the point right now. He reminds me of DR except I do not beleive he has the coaches mind like DR & JC did right from the beginning (that came from their fathers and grandfathers and uncles).
My point is this mess (no I have not given up on the team w/ or w/o AW-and I hope he gets better-AW we do need you) all falls on the coaching staff-some of which I think are good but then some couldn't even hold a high school job.

I am not sure what you are trying to prove?
My point was that Creighton was not as good without Funk in 2005-2006 than they would have been with him, and likewise, whether some don't want to hear about injuries, Bradley will not be as good without Warren and Egolf as they would have been with them.
In 2005-2006 Creighton was favored by many to win the MVC, and get an NCAA bid.
But they finished 4th and were not invited to the NCAA.
 
Really? Some people here think that AW wouldn't have made a difference so far this season?

Yeah, other teams would key on him. he'd draw defenders out, opening up driving and passing lanes for other players. A good player makes others better, not just with their leadership and assists, but by pulling attention away from others.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned what I found to be the absolutely most frustrating part of the game yesterday. Free throw shooting. we missed three front-ends of one-and-ones in the first half, which is basically a turnover. It was atrocious.

I don't know what privileges JL will take away, but i hope its more in the form of free-throw and shooting drills. That game has a different result if we make our gimmes!!

A pretty good question here by the nut.......

We've had a pretty vigorous debate for awhile here talking about the "system" vs. the players. A motion offense like the one we run requires a lot of basketball intelligence and instincts because there isn't the rigidity of sets or plays. Without a defined place to be and thing to do, the motion offense has to rely on the players being able to read the opponent and their positioning and how to exploit that. Like many have said here, we may have to go to a more "traditional" offense or more set plays because it would take some of the decision-making out of the equation for the players. It's real easy for players for players to get caught standing around or looking lost because they can't figure out what to do (See: Collins, David). Look at our two opening plays of each half last night, both set plays that got us a pretty high-percentage shot; I think we've had success in previous games with set plays, too.

As far as the injuries to AW and WE, they're not an excuse, but they are a reason.

"disagrees with" is not equal to "discredits"....
Creighton was not as good after Funk was injured, so Da Coach is exactly right.
That team also had a lot of other veterans, something BU simply doesn't have...

I as others have not jumped off....we're just frustrated w/ the way things are...once again I state there are things we are still doing wrong since Day 1 under Les...

If this were the market, think of it this way...you start out and you feel great about your investment...it spikes a bit but then it takes a drastic fall....and this happens over and over again...

At some point, aren't you more than likely going to move to another investment?

I agree w/ your last point about the system, but if thats the case then why are we recruiting players that don't exactly fit our system...?

We can continue doing what we're doing and we'll keep getting what we're getting...

OR

We could make a change and for the first time since POB and MS and those guys were here, we could tailor the system to the players we actually have instead of the players we want to have but couldn't get.


I see an awful lot of talent on our roster from 1 down to about 9 (not incl. Egolf or Warren) but if you don't use the talent properly, then how will we ever know just how good our players could be?
 
Versace made a reference last night that our offense is designed to be reactionary while Butler ran a conventional set play offense.

But then he makes a point to applaude JL on the two set plays he put together to open both halfs.

It seems to me JL is very good at set plays when there is time to prepare, but is hesitant to run set plays with this team. Last year he would run set plays to get JC open shots or to issolate him one on one... we just do not have a one on one break down a defense player and he also does not have a post player who he can run set offenses through, atleast I think he doesnt... since I have no idea what AT can or can not do.

As the season progresses I would imagine he will have to find a way to incorporate a more set offense.

But its not so much the offense that is bothersome its the losing men defensively, allowing teams to get entry passes to the lane and block to easily and the poor rotation on any helpside defense whether its interior or on the open 3 shooter. But last night also was glaring on another thing that has been a staple for 3 years... we can not compete on the boards with a team who is playing 6'8 on its back line on the boards when we insist on going with essentially 4 guards and either DC who has no feel for rebounding or SS who does but can not jump.

The loss of AW and WE is felt all over the place because of length, passing ability and jumping and getting boards.

I believe this team is going right now in the direction of a .500 team and previously when we have lost go to scorers sustaining a .500 record would have been welcomed. This team is probably acheiving about what it should, the games we have lost are all against post season teams and likely all will be NCAA teams other then UMKC, who is neither.

JL I am sure is very aware of what he has and his job is to try to find a way to get these players to essentially over achieve and play in situations he likely did not invision them do so early. The taking of priveldges is more of trying to find a way to get them to come out a be focused for 40 minutes and to play hard from tip to buzzer.

BTW and it is my opinion he needs to put DC behind him, I really do not believe that DC's teammates believe in him nor do they trust him to bring it nightly.

We did play UMKC didn't we..?


And yes, Les is good at running set plays out of halves and TO's, BUT the question is do we not run sets because of our lack of being able to run them through the offense we have, because of our PG, or because of Les' lack of trust in the players to execute...?

We just don't know and unfortunately its very difficult to speculate that.
 
The more posts I read, the more it sounds like there's a lot of people who think AT is going to be JC when he finally plays......and I'm not talking JC like Jeremy Crouch.......

Forgot about UMKC, they will not make the NCAA's. I will correct.

Stop cring in our beer and looking for excuses:!: Yes we all know we would be a better team with them but how much better, No-One knows, No-One:!:
So why waste time and air on it. Or for some of you that making that excuse makes you feel better, talk to someone who cares and wants to keep hearing it.
Someone once told me this:
One Monkey don't stop no show, the show will go on, it may not be as good but the show will go on. Lets forget about who's not here and concentrate on the ones who are.

First, you are wrong, the post did not discredit my opinion, but substantiated it. The fact is that Creighton underachieved without Funk, and ISU underachieved without Bryson. Andrew Warren is just as valuable to this team, and either of those players were to their team.

There were some posts removed, but for good reason. You used the term "garbage" in referring to the Bradley players and team. Please read the rules if you need any clarification regarding what will and will not be allowed on this forum. Other posts were removed because some posters seem to think that they alone can define reality, and that they can insult those who don't agree with them. Posts will continue to be removed if they violate our board's rules.

I expect posters to be able to describe their opinions and criticisms of the game or the team without resorting to childish, insulting, and offensive attacks on players, coaches, or other posters.

My other problem w/ that said argument...


Andrew has not played all year and has practiced at a minimum...


So maybe I can see the problem w/ not having Will because we are thin inside, BUT we should have already learned to play well w/o Andrew as he hasn't been around since the beginning of the season.
