Bradley Loses 69-65 @ isu

If it hits the backboard on an inbounds play then the opposing team inbounds the ball under that basket. It is legal if it hits the rim. That's what the announcers said.

Jason

If it hits anywhere on the back of the backboard or under neath it is a turnover. My question is how is it possible that it hit the front of the rim? That is what the ref said to JL.

If called correctly it would have been our ball with 40 secs left and a tied game. We are getting hosed by the refs game after game!

In a vacuum, I don't mind this lost. I had @ISU as the one sure-fire loss going into the year.

However, big picture, it hurts so bad that we were right there with a chance to create separation in the standings.

As a formality, any fledgling at-large hopes were pinned on a league title and gaudy record, and this one officialy ends those hopes.

*pop*

;)

ISU is still probably on life support.

On a positive note, isu sucks on the road and we beat them in Peoria and they barely beat us at home where they play 3 times better than on the road. Looking good for our chances if we get a rematch down in STL.

Bradley played great, and the effort was outstanding. That was a fantastic game to watch. Tough loss.
I really didn't hear any profane chants from the ISU students. I commend them for cleaning up the act.

Yes, good for them (and the administration who said enough is enough). Sounded like they had a really good crowd.

To say SM gets too much playing time is basically ignorant...I want him playing almost the entire game.

ALL other guards are new to BU (dodie, Edge, and DN). His efforts kept the end of the first half from getting out of hand...NOT TO MENTION....his ability to keep cool at the end of the game...yea he missed a layup at the end...but he busted through 3 guys and went into the center!!!
nothing but love for SM w/ or w/o the missed layup.

Dodie...amazing second half...kept us alive w/ some clutch threes and some good ball handling.

Singh = Foul trouble DC = out of sync...I was upset about this. He had a rough game and was forcing his offense and having trouble picking up people on the D. If he had a stronger presence in the first half...would've been a different game.

LOOOOTS of questionable calls...very upset w/ the officiating...especially the inbound.

ALSO!!!! what was up with the towel kids...you should not have 5 year olds whipping the floor that can result in a player falling down. That's great that they have kids do it and its nice for the fans...but at every other professional sport where stuff like that happens...they don't really do anything its just a nice moment for a picture (celebrity bat kids and such).
about 10 minutes in the first half 4 players fell...ISU and BU...Not cool...i would be SEVERELY angry if that resulted in an injury

Overall...a GREAT game...lots of fun to watch. tough ending...but such is life

bring it on UNI

I agree about our bigs, BU connorishness. DC looked like he actually forced questionable shots with six or seven seconds in the shot clock on two occasions when their students gave a fake, "3, 2, 1!"

yea he bit on those HARD...haha

i'd much rather see him dish those out personally...send it to SM or DD to hit a three...they're probably open

Well most of it has been said. Overall I actually think the reffing was not too bad. It definitely wasn't "lost us the game" bad. Without looking at the stats for the game I have a feeling we should've rebounded a LITTLE bit better. SS and DC needed to play better. One or two more made 3's in the 1st half would've changed the game. It annoys me to no end that almost everytime we came back for a tie or to take the lead we'd follow that up with terrible shot selection.....it was absolutely hair pulling and ridiculous.

With regards to beating them at home and then almost winning @ ISU so that bodes well for us come STL....I remind you of Creighton last year. Killed them at home and took every ounce of effort on their part to beat us in Omaha and then again in STL but they prevailed....they CAN beat us on a neutral court just as much as we can beat them...it'll be tough if we have to play them again.

Lastly, it is hard for me to say nice game to this. It was one of those situations where losing by 1 will still be a loss for me. We're still in 3rd place now with a set up for a bigger fall. Br.Buster game will be worse. This was our 2nd chance to make a road statement and it was there for the taking and we let it get away. However it was a good effort, but if you can't make a clutch free throw and miss a clutch lay up there are no excuses....and there are none for this game. On a good note....if we play with that intensity (with a little more from DC/SS) the rest of the conference season we will not lose another game....JMHO.

That's a really fantastic point. It almost seemed like we were only trying to stay right next to them or a shade behind. By that I mean I think we really pulled back or lacked confidence to do anything but hang with them. We'd make a six or seven point push and tie it up or take a one point lead, then pass it around for 34 seconds and force something awkward.

I can't believe how many lay ups we gave them especially in the first half when they were fresh. I think they had more dunks against us than any team I can remember. Just not acceptable under any circumstances. I did not hear Jims post game comments but I bet he was livid.

When we came back from the 9 point deficit to take the 1 point lead and then we got a rebound on the other end we had a real shot to change the dynamics of the game, and we passed it around a bit and DD drove into the paint and just threw up a terrible terrible looking layup. It was nowhere near the rim and had two guys around him with about 15 seconds left on the shot clock still. It was things like that that lost the game for us. The multiple dunks. A loss is a loss and this one hurts no matter how close it was....almost DOES NOT count.

But I will end again on a positive....overall offense is looking better. If we actually continue to make the 3pointers like the last two games and continue the free throw % of this game...the offense will be excellent for STL.

Too many defensive lapses: Too many back doors, too many missed rotations, and their PG got in the lane too many times and created opportunities for their big men

We did not bring the same effort mentally and physically that we did the last few games on defense.

Yes we did fight to get back in the game several times, which showed heart. But as Coach Les has stated several times, this team has to rely on its defense first. It failed us in this game, because we played well enough offensively to win. It was the primary reason we beat them the first time. I am sure the team will go back to what has been working for them.

7-22 3 points....ouch...

14-15 FT's...funny how the one miss is the only one that sticks in teh brain.

22-64 FG's...

kept it close w/ numbers like these

however ISU shot 24-28 FT's...honesty 28!!!???? :rolleyes::mad::rolleyes::mad:

sad, not disappointed....very well put

About 18-20 of those FT's can be attributed to DC's & Singh's 10 fouls. 9 points, 7 boards and 10 fouls from out 2 post men. Prosser and Milos can't get here soon enough.

Tough loss but good effort. Surprised that CR only got 10 minutes of action. I thought we might need a bigger gaurd to help with Oguchi and Eldridge. Maybe that is punishment for the last second steak shot.
I also was surprised that SM brought the ball up the court so much today. Even when EM was in the game. What was the reason for that? I can't remember EM getting his pocket picked in the last couple of games. It is not like they were running plays for EM.
Nice that the refs let them play. Maybe they let ISU play a little more than us, but hey thats life on the road.
