I've had that same question for a long time....I often wonder why BU NEVER tries to put more than one big man on the floor at the same time. This years team is probably not capable of doing this but JL will have the opportunity to "play big" in the next couple of years. I hope we have coaches that can teach these guys to play with their backs to the basket. Right now I don't think we do.

I am in the camp that Will was a difference maker to this team. WE would have been a matchup problem for just about every team in the MVC. I know that WE only played a couple of games this year, but WE was light years ahead of DC.imo Opposing teams played us differently when WE was in our lineup and that in turn opened up our offense. (as much as our offense could be opened up) I like AW a lot and know his loss this year hurt this team, but I really believe that Will's injury was a far greater loss to this team than AW.

You could be right.I'm just saying it was a couple of games, There was nothing for sure to say WE was or is going to be a difference maker...
I hope so because we won't have experience in the post going into next year

I would like to have seen a lineup of ;
Maniscalco
Dunson
Wilson
Brown
Singh
I am not saying this would be our starting lineup but I would use this combination when we played mostly a zone defense, it would give us a better chance at scoring more inside and also a better rebounding team.
Our 3 guard system is not working because we are not a consistent 3 pt. shooting team and we do not have big guards so it is hard for them to shoot over their defenders.

After watching college basketball for 30+ years and having a roommate in college who was on a D1 team, it makes me think that Coach Les may think AT is not the player he thought and would like him to move on. ALL the signs are there. If he had a future, you would think he would at least get some playing time in blow-out games and during the end of other games that have been decided. Also, it's not like DC and SS are superstars... i.e., he should probably get some time during the core of the game. I would not be surpirsed if AT is not back next year. Just my opinion.
Your winning me over g-dog. I'm with Benni, there is No Reason unless it is what you just said in your post why AT has not gotten some playing time this year. If JL thinks he is two weak to play the 5, which I may intend to go along with, at lease for long periods of time, then WHY in the hell not play him at the 4:!: We have poor shooting guards, Why not go big with him at the 4 and also TB and move TW to the 3. May be the turning point for the remainder of this year. Also AT has been here going on 2 years now and does anyone buy into that by next year he will be at 220 lbs or more.

I totally agree, I even had a thread on it a week ago. I don't care if it is TB or AT just go Big:!: Whats all the ***** about the Bigs:doubt: The guards poor shooting and poor defence of the 3, are not a bigger problem:!::roll:

This would give AT more of a chance to play as he would have other bigs on the floor at the same time.
We may be able to compete in the Valley with 3 guards but we will never have a chance in the big dance against teams like UCONN,Memphis,Mich.St.,Florida and a host of others that play multiple big men.

Where did the big dance come from? CBI is a stretch this year.

Talking about the future, the way we are going now we will be lucky to play any post-season and I am an optimist .

There is zero chance "The best big since POB" (AT) can be worse than DC. I also find it hard to believe that AT gives less effort than DC.

My question is why would AT want to stay at BU when he is clearly not given a chance by this staff. Next year Egolf (assuming hes ready to start to season) will be ahead of AT on the depth chart. I would also assume that Prosser will be ahead of him as well, and since we can't play more than 1 big at a time for some reason it doesnt look like AT will see the court unless it is in another uniform

If AT was ready to contribute, don't you think the staff would be getting him minutes? We have two senior post players that aren't exactly "difference makers" (that's the nicest way I could put it) and we aren't contending...So, either AT is completely unprepared to give us quality minutes right now...or our staff is totally incompetent and needs to be run out of town.
I'll give the staff the benefit of the doubt...The last time we saw AT on the floor in a game, he looked as if he had never played the game of basketball before. So, why would we believe that if he was given 20 minutes a game right now he would magically figure it all out?

Those minutes AT got where garbage minutes that didnt mean a thing. He looked just as lost as DC has looked in his last 3 games. Give him some meaningful minutes and see what he does. I am not sure what could be worse than DC and SS minutes. BTW can SS put back on his mask?? He has been awful ever since that was off

Les better be drilling these kids right now. Practice should be done every second of their free time until they start winning again.

I agree with this lineup if we are going to play a slow style of game...

If we are going to play an up tempo game I believe the lineup should be

EM or DN
DD
CR
TW
DC

This lineup if coached the right way could allow us to play somewhat like Memphis. Defense should create our offense, and fast breaking and open court play should be stressed, to try and create as many easy buckets as we can get. We should be in attack mode the entire game.

This is what I thought was being described at the start of the season. With the athletes we have.... we should not have to resort to a grind it out type of game, which it appears we are going to. For players to consistently attack, they must feel they are trusted, because in any attacking style offense, there will be mistakes.

If they did this they would be in violation of NCAA rules. There are guidelines set by the NCAA on how many hours a team can practice.

And I am for the lineup that plays the best in each game. That seems to change every game, and I think the coaches are the best people suited to decide this.

Is this true for high school as well? Because I remember getting to run every day for hours on end after a loss.

I guess there's no rules for requiring basketball players to wear football pads for a full-contact practice ;)
