Former BU Recruit Waymon Tisdale Passes

Braveman

New member
Waymon Tisdale died this morning after a two year battle with cancer. Some may not know that BU recruited him and had him here for a visit before he chose Oklahoma and went on to success in the NBA.

Sad to go at the age of 44.. Godspeed

I remember hearing that DV recruited him and was about to post the same thing here. Nice post Braveman.... Tisdale was a ton at Oklahoma....

Thanks Beninator- I was student manager back then.. met Waymon and Spud Webb- whom BU also recruited!

Waymon was also a very talented musician. The Smooth Jazz station in Phoenix plays his music regulary.

He was one of my all time favorite players. I am about the same age as him and remember Bradley recruiting him. It was the days before all the internet recruiting services. It was very exiting to hear we were after a Parade All-American. Coach Versace used to really build up how close we were to getting recruits. I thought he was one of the most dominant college players I had seen. In the pro's I think he was a little small for the position/style of game he played. He was still a good NBA player.I have never heard his music. He is pretty well respected from people who do listen to that kind of music.
I kind of forgot why I used to like him. When they have been running stories on him on ESPN, and I see how positive he is and his big grin it makes me really sad to hear he is gone. I hope some other players can pick up on that positive outlook on life he had. RIP.

Wasn't he on the Kings for 1-2 years when JL was their PG?

I don't know. But I think this is something you would know for sure. You should make a statement rather than ask a question.

I should know, because I've NEVER followed the NBA?

If it's true though, I'm surprised JL hasn't made a statement.

For all 4 seasons that Jim Les played for the Sacramento Kings (1990-91 through 1993-94) Wayman Tisdale was a teammate with him on the Kings. 1993-94 was the last year with Sacramento for both players. Tisdale was a regular starter for the Kings those years, while Jim Les started a few games, but mostly came off the bench. I am sure that many of Jim's career assists went to Tisdale.

Here are Wayman Tisday's career numbers-

Huh?

I've never followed the NBA.

I can't tell you the teams JL played for. I can't tell you the teams WT played for.

And I honestly could care less.

;)

But you offered it up. I just figured you musta known.

I don't follow the NBA that much either Mob. What I do remember is Tisdale playing against UIUC as a Freshman (I believe) and absolutely dominating them even while being triple teamed. It was a fun game to watch and I liked Tisdale from then on.:)

Southpaw what do you have against JL? Your posts are so anti-JL it is ridiculous. I just looked back at your posts and I swear you must have some vendetta. I really do not care one way or the other but I always need to know why some one feels so strong about something.
