Pitino new article

Prediction, Pitino resigns by the end of the month.

On a personal note I read his book recently and I feel he is a complete hypocrite and I feel like I wasted part of my life and money on him. He deserves all he gets after all this is completed. Pitino is a disgusting person.
 
I'm not sure why you're unloading on Pitino....

if every groupie, hanger-on, and fan got to "be with" or romance the one they are idolizing,
then if they turned on him and sued him.....the backlog in the courts would be 100 years!
Groupies and gals willing to throw themselves at anyone of fame or notoriety are endless....
whether it's rock stars, athletes, politicians, or famous head basketball coaches.
They are looking for their 14 minutes of fame and maybe a quick payoff of some sort.

I have little empathy for Pitino (although I do for his family), but I also have less sympathy for the woman in this story...as she appears to have gotten everything she actually wanted.
If the story is even remotely as she claims it is, then is it astounding that she continued to put herself in Pitino's presence on a daily basis for the pastfive years and even married Pitino's close friend.
The whole story is a joke, and she should just give up and go away.

Read the book and you will understand why I unload on Pitino. He claims to live a certain way yet behind the curtain it is lived completely differently. Yes the woman is who she is but Pitino is a public figure who has given advise, written about his life and advice and is nothing who he says he is, he deserves to be unloaded upon.

He also deserves to not ever coach again. If he advicates lifestyles and decisions to his players in the fashion he did in his book and his truthfulness is no where close to who he really is then he has no business molding the lives and attitudes of young men.

He is an absolute hypocite.

Why? What laws did he break? If you had a nickel for every DI coach who participated in such behavior you could put in a bid to buy the Chicago Cubs. I know first hand of coaches that hit quite close to home (not BU) who engaged in this type of behavior regularly. I'm not condoning it, but deserving to never coach again? Come on. I'd say getting DUI's and paying off teachers to fudge grades are a lot more serious offenses for a basketball coach than adultery, and set just as bad if not a worse example.

Hypothetically - Say Jim Les has a great couple of years and goes either to a bigger school or to the NBA, and Pitino resigns from Louisville and lays low for a couple of years. Would you take him at BU? I know I would. In a second.
 
I hear you Houston...but we both agree that we don't admire the guy...
I just don't see a reason to criticize the guy for something that happened 5 years ago.

Anyway.....here's just an open question to anyone...

What about today's new story is in any way new? Didn't we really know every single bit of this already? We had heard reports Pitino had intimate relations with Sypher 5 years ago, that she supposedly got pregnant, and had RP pay for the Ab., and that now she's making claims against him and wanted a payoff, and was charged with extortion.

We knew all this months ago...so why are there people now calling for Pitino to resign or step down??

Why weren't these same people saying the same thing back in April?

He's not our coach and not our concern. Could you imagine what would happen to him P-town? I feel bad for his wife.... :oops:
 
He is one of the best college coaches of all time, but in one bad decision has lost the respect of a lot of people, I am sure he is paying deeply for this with his family and it will follow him wherever he goes.
 
I'm not sure this is the whole story. This Vinnie guy was probably suppose to be RP's designated drive but was probably too drunk to do so.

I have a problem believing it was one night of indescretion and this woman six months later married his equipment manager.His equipment manager moved to kentucky with RP so they were very close...and he marries this woman....there has got to be more to it IMO
 
I know lefty, it's a mess, but haven't we seen just as bad in the Oval Office, Senate, among the Hollywood types and pop stars, and even among well known leaders of churches...
I agree he's not qualified to be a moral leader, but I wouldn't say the guy can't be a basketball coach.

I don't think this will help him recruiting wise. But it sounds like he will not resign and the AD and the University is behind him....

I still think he was with this more than one night...

I'm not so sure I agree. Based on the type of kid Pitino recruits and the culture that many of them come from he may actually have more "street cred". (And I in no way condone what he did).

I also do not think he will resign Houston. He is far too valuable to UL for him to be "forced out". Once his PR machine finishes their spin all will be forgotten in a year or two. Remember, Pitino is a "corporation" and can pay for the best attorneys and PR people.
 
If the kids thamselves are the ones making the final decisions, then you could be right.
However, I still think most recruits have input from parents or advisers who would be turned off by behavior like this from a coach.

You can bet that Roy Williams, Bill Self, John Calipari, Thad Matta, Tom Crean, and others will use this as much as they can to their advantage against Louisville.
 
I completely understand that anyone can have a moment of indescretion, but I am going back to my first point, he wrote a book telling the world how he lives his life, he is paid thousands of $$'s to give motivational and advise to many people on how to live a life. He has done all of this pre and post to this "indescretion" and it turns out his whole life behind the curtain is a hypocritial lie.

I understand all kinds of people lie and are not who they say they are, but Pitino has built an entire idenity and philosophy on certain priciples and it turns out he absolutely does not live by his own words.

The man is a fraud and a hypocrite. I know that Louisville needs his "persona" to compete with UK and also they have seats to sell for their new arena but I dont understand how anyone can trust this man again when it comes to leading a young mans life.

Look at his words yesterday. "Pitino said he made ???a very difficult decision??? seven months ago, when he reported his allegation of extortion to the FBI, ???to tell the truth to the federal authorities, the local authorities, the university officials and most importantly, the people that love me the most: my family and friends.???

A difficult decision? So he had to debate with himself to tell the truth? If not confronted with anything regarding his "indescretion", his debate with himself would have stayed exactly where it was for the previous 6 years, and he would have continued to lie by writing books and speaking about a moral high ground that he obviously does not live the way he speaks.

He will likely keep his job but he shouldnt he does deserve to lose his job. But wins are as we know more important then anything other then money. Carry on Rick and Louisville your both model citizens and institutions.
