Bu 71 pc 58

I wasn't worried about the outcome of this game. I thought the entire game JL was trying to work different combinations into the game, knowing that this was not going to be a really difficult game. Getting some of the younger guys more minutes in the meat of the game is going to pay off later this year, maybe even this week. We could have kept to 5-7 guys in the whole game and blown these guys out by 20-30, but to what point? Use the time to work on things against a team that does not really know what you are doing, much better than doing that in practice.

I agree with you bds.

Winning by 10-15 pts now but helping us win games later on this season cause of player development is better than winning by 30 now and then losing later in the season wondering why some players may not have developed faster. :)

If we'd have had TB in game 1 we'd be 4-0

No, we wouldn't. We'd be 3-1...just like we are.
The yearly revisionist history routine is getting really tired.
If we had TB, if we had Dodie, if we had Will, if we had Warren...if, if, if, blah, blah, blah...meaningless.
We are what we are...that's all that matters...ifs and would'ves and could'ves are buzzwords that lousy teams embrace...we should hope to be better than that.

Facts can't be ignored. Bradley was without 2 starters for the entire conference season last year. I am certain no team in recent history has won the MVC with 2 starters out all year, or made it to the NCAA tournament. So those overly critical of the team and coaching staff aren't being realistic.

And I think Bradley would have had a chance to win the game at BYU with TB. They were tied midway in the 2nd half, and TB would have made a big difference.

I've always said 2 big things can impact a season. I call them jokingly "Injuries and Felonies". Meaning - injuries and off-court issues. You can't control injuries, but you can try to control off-court issues. Thankfully for Bradley, we have the local rag keeping Bradley in line on how tough they handle the off-court issues. So maybe, just maybe... if we coulda, shoulda, woulda had local news media without an agenda against the University then maybe... just maybe, we coulda, shoulda, woulda been 4-0. ;) But seriously - great work by the local rag and KW for the numerous times of putting Bradley in it's place and calling them out. And whatever the local rag and KW does, don't EVER report/show how it goes on everywhere and maybe worse at times with less discipline. This is Peoria - and there is only 1 team in Peoria. No fans of UIUC, ISU, or SIU read the local rag.

they were exactly who we thought they were!!! lol

Hey neither of you can say who would have won with TB...who cares at this point its water....carried under a bridge you know.....

I agree completely!

By the way, I'm not sure how anyone can say matter of factly that we would or would not be 4-0/3-1 if we had TB against BYU. I just don't get that at all.

The fact of the matter is that we've won the games we're "supposed to win" and we're 3-1.

OK, well, let's look at the facts then...the fact is that we are 3-1. The fact is that we lost the game to BYU.
Would we have won if TB played? Who knows...and who really cares? We didn't...so move on.

The box score doesn't say anything about this game. Bradley could of ran up the score if they wanted to. I counted at least 10-15 open shots a player could of taken but no point in blowing these guys out. BU was playing pretty soft on both ends, I think if this was a decent opponent, they would of showed double the intensity. It's tough to really stay focused when you know you have the win in the bag.

NO MOVING SCREENS FOR LAST 2 GAMES!!!!!

Milos displaying his long range tonight. I was kind of iffy with him playing much after how he played the first couple games but he looked great tonight. He's getting more confident with each passing game. This team is loaded with players that can nail down the outside shot.

Brown, well not much to say. Seems like every shot he throws up will go in. Offense, Defense, it's all their. I would say he's slightly better than Theron right now.

Biggest thing that needs working on right now is the perimeter D. Giving up to many open shots, that will kill us against OK State and maybe IL.

Jason

Jason I agree...but the outside "D" wasn't all that bad..they made some crazy shots with a hand in their face....

Also like how MK got called for the push on "D" I applauded the foul...GET TOUGHER!

Oh, and nice picture SFP. Maybe they would like a ride in my Viper?

Sorry George, they'd be in my Limo. BTW those girls are going soon so enjoy them now. They were posted for StLouis! He said 99% of the guys do not really look at girls at games. I guess I'm that 1%! :D

Oh on the game, It's in which JL can teach the guys. Plenty of material there. We lost our energy in the 2nd 1/2 and basketball is a sport that is hard to be on and off. I also would like to see JL set up plays for AW early. He needs to touch the ball early and get into from the beginning of the game. Also he should be shooting those open shots regardless of clock used. I'd rather have him shoot the 3 out of any starter even if covered. Think Curry!

Did anyone notice the incessant flash bulb going off throughout the entire game. I literally have a huge headache now because every three seconds the flash bulbs up in the light truss would go off.

Clunky 2nd half, but it's a win.

Didn't see any flash bulbs going off, but that couldn't be more irritating than the constant chatter by the PA announcer during timeouts.

Yes they made some tough shots tonight, but i'm talking against Wofford also. When BU was getting slaughtered by the back door passes, they changed up the D but then the perimeter D went to the dumpsters. That is when I noticed a lot more open perimeter shots developing. I guess you could say that the odds are less but you could also get blown out very fast.

Other than taking the air out of the ball and being a bit sloppy in the 2nd half, we did what we needed to do. The outcome was never in jeopardy and we got our guys rest. 4 games in 7 days guys...big picture here. The bench is going to shorten up quite a bit Friday and Saturday. 3-1 is all that matters. Bring on the Cowboys!

I think JL said it himself after the game. The early part of the season is to find out which combinations work, having the right subsitution pattern, and feed the newcomers to the fire to see what they are made of. What we have found out so far after 4 games:

1. TB has got game.
2. AW and WE are getting back into the swing of things.
3. EM and SM struggling with their shot but doing everything else well. I did find it interesting the SM started over EM. As long as EM sturggles continue with his shot he'll be coming off the bench.
4. We have a bad pattern of doubling down, leaving guys open for a wide open 3. So far no one had taken advantage of that.
5. The freshmen have got game. Milos showed what kind of shooter he is and DSE is a tough hard nosed ball player. Both need to improve their defense if JL is going to give them more minutes.

We're definately a work in progress that will get a severe test against OK ST on Friday and whoever we play on Saturday. We will certainly need a more complete game to have a chance to win.
