Coaching carousel begins

Chris Mack is at Xavier...and will be interviewing for BC from what I have been told, along with Mooney from Richmond and Donahue from Cornell...

Gregory is at Dayton...I think you are confused...

Geez...no kidding.......it's not the first time I've been confused....I had the right conference though do I get any points?:)

Gregory could have had the Iowa job, but he passed.

Minnesota may be available soon, as Tubby Smith is interested in the money Oregon is throwing around.

My money is on Gregory ending up next in the Big Ten.

Iowa is NOT a good job...

and Tubby is said to be staying at Minny....

Tulane coach Dave Dickerson "resigns", supposedly under pressure.

Talk about a raw deal! Katrina and then trying to recruit players to New Orleans. He should wind up in a good spot when its all said and done. He's a pretty good recruiter.

I bet Maryland will open up another position for him. He's the one that recruited most of the team from their national title run. I'm not sure if Tornado would approve since he is a Gary Williams disciple.;-)

disciples who leave the fold get a start over, and so far I have not heard Dickerson rip the mid-majors, the Valley, nor Bradley, so he clean in my mind...;)

Purdue's Matt Painter signs a nice new deal..
Extended through 2017 at a base of $1 million per year plus additional clauses that virtually guarantee at least another million and maybe as much as an additional $1.3 mil.
Plus...get this...it is RETROACTIVE to July of 2009!!!!! so it bumps his salary for this past year, too...

And - at the same time - the University is in serious financial trouble, so they are announcing a total of $45 million+
in cuts to the salaries of all the other university employees - I kid you not!!!

Why should this surprise anyone when there are multiple states that the highest paid individuals in the state are the college basketball coaches...Connecticut and North Carolina come to mind right away...I think possibly Indiana and Tennessee fit there too?

Wagner surprises everyone and hires a high school coach- Dan Hurley-
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=5056832

Dan Hurley is the brother of former Duke player Bob Hurley, and has had great success as a high school coach at St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, New Jersey. This would appear to be a move to try to get the local high school players to stay home and attend Wagner, located in New York City.
