Coaching carousel begins

Charlotte has hired Ohio State assistant Alan Majors.

And Clemson is reportedly interviewing Wright State's Brad Brownell.

Wagner surprises everyone and hires a high school coach- Dan Hurley-

Dan Hurley is the brother of former Duke player Bob Hurley, and has had great success as a high school coach at St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, New Jersey. This would appear to be a move to try to get the local high school players to stay home and attend Wagner, located in New York City.

New Wagner coach Danny Hurley has hired his brother, former Duke star Bobby Hurley as an assistant coach-

UNC-Wilmington is now the D1 school who has had their coaching position open the longest- since January 28, 2010.
They still appear no closer to hiring a coach as a series of candidates have turned down the job-

Wisconsin-Green Bay hires their assistant coach Brian Wardle to fill the head coach position vacated by Tod Kowalczyk, who moved to Toledo.

Been some paltry moves this year for sure. UNCW on paper should be a great job. . .beautiful setting, unique school colors (teal), tradition, and CAA gig. But the the school Prez Rosemary DePaulo (sp?) is a nightmare to work for. There was speculation that Wainwright talked Wofford's Mike Young out of going there. Don't really know specifics, other than Wainwright left because of her. And later Brownell took what appeared to be a step down by going to Wright State despite having success at UNCW. The AD Mehrtens was not popular among fans (although she did almost land the Rutgers AD spot last year).

But Peterson is an interesting case in career. . .Appy State has a special place in his heart. That's where his coaching career started as an assistant. Later it was his first head coaching gig. But he's had some very remarkable seasons in his career too.

In a bizarre hiring move, Appalachian State just hired assistant coach Jason Capel.-
http://community.foxsports.com/good...ounger_brother,_jason,_gets_appalachian_state

This hiring is hard to understand. Jason Capel was just hired last June by former head coach Buzz Peterson and has a total of 10 months experience in coaching as an assistant at Appalachian State. Prior to his hiring last summer, he had been an analyst for TV, and prior to that had been playing pro ball overseas.
Appalachian State passed over another much more qualified assistant Matt McMahon, who had been there for 10 years, and had played at ASU, too.

The high school that Hurley just left to take this job is one of the powerhouse high schools in basketball and has been for decades...
they just filled their open head coaching spot with the guy who was just fired as assistant by Tom Crean, Roshown McLeod..
