Why can all 16 CBA Division 1 players get cleared and ours can't? Is this gonna be Wilkins all over again? Tomorrow is D-day.

I hope we sign him,but I don't think we will. I'm not hearing real goods things about him signing with us. Not to sure it has anything to do with him getting cleared. HOPE I'm wrong. Think we are looking to Europe for help. The only thing sure is we need help in the middle and I can't figure out why everyone in front of us are getting bigs but we don't seem to be.

If we don't sign MO, this year was a complete recruiting waste that could set the program back a couple of years. You can't just sit out a year of recruiting and expect to be successful. What the h-ll were we doing all year?

What? There have already been a number of posters here saying it might be better to "bank" scholarships. Whether he signs or not, I think he'll be at BU next year.
There are also other options. But some fans prefer to panic. I suggest waiting to see how things play out before going into full panic mode.

I am not panicking. If however we end up going into the season without another post player, I will panick. We need another post for next year. A transfer is fine, but not if we don't have a big man to play inside next year.

I still thought we would get MO even if he doesn't sign. I hope I am still right, I had not heard any negative reports on how it was going. I hope I am right.

I agree with your entire post.

Recruiting coaches. ;)

And that Walter Lemon kid... And Donivine Stewart...

We've been thorugh the recruiting hype so many times that even if MO signs, I'm not expecting anything out of him until I see him play.

What I do expect is that WE, JP, and AT are going to work their tails off this summer and that the coaching staff is going to have a focus on defensive fundamentals and a re-tooled offensive philosophy that makes better use of our existing inside players. If that happens, we will have a very good year, with or without MO.

I happen to agree with this entire post. I think it's absurd (and an injustice to the two players we did sign and the "major upgrade" to the coaching staff) to say "this year was a complete recruiting waste".

I was and still am looking forward to seeing MO play, but have never thought his not signing during this period would set the program back a couple years.

I agree shaun ...... and I'm very happy with the recruits we signed and the players we already have in tow.

However, the fact that this team's most pressing need (a big) has not yet been officially met is somewhat disconcerting. If we do not sign a "serviceable" big who can contribute right away then I will also consider this recruiting season a failure (and that is not taking anything away from the fine recruits that we did sign).

I DO NOT think that the entire blame should be laid at Les' feet. Remember, he did not cause the turmoil that ensued at the end of the season with himself and his coaching staff. I believe that blame can be placed at a higher level in the BU administration. When rumors fly and coaches leave that cannot be a good thing for recruits to be witnessing.

That said, I think the changes that WERE made were positive and will pay dividends in other ways. Sometimes you have to take a step back before you can take two steps forward and I think that is what BU did in this case. On the whole, I think this team will benefit (both now in in the future) more from the coaching changes than from finding a "big". And let's not forget that Platt probably made some "big" connections before coming to BU and this could lead to a late summer find (ala Taylor Brown).

I am not in full panic mode bc this seems to happen to Les and the Braves EVERY year now...

That being said, like anyone else, I really WANT this kid...

We need another inside threat in the worst way.

I am panicking.....sorry
?? panic if you wish but..we have as deep of a team as we have had in years...
we have ten returning scholarship players..three seniors two of whom are 5th year seniors..
then we also have TB, WE, & AT for two more years, while we have Jake, DSE, and Milos for three more years each..
and Walter Lemon & Jordan Prosser for four more years.
Anyone else we get coming in will have to battle for playing timne, but I think we are as well set as anyone else in the Valley for several years to come..

Well put t :) With all this being said there is NO REASON for anything less than a MVC Championship and a trip to the Big Dance:)
Thanks for putting it all out there and opening our eyes:)

Keep this post...because we had the same team coming back last year and experience was supposed to be one of our strengths. If we get off to a poor start or underachieve again, I sure don't want to hear "We are so young and inexperienced, with a freshman Jordan Prosser playing big minutes up front, and sophomores Dyricus Simms-Edwards and Jake Eastman playing significant roles". It was BS last year and it will be BS this year, so I hope we don't have to hear it.

And if it's OK for us to NOT land MO, why did we bother recruiting him? It wasn't like he was in Peoria and we just drove down the street to go recruit the kid. He was playing in the Canary Islands for God's sake.

With possibly 2 open scholarships going into next recruiting season, I can't see how we're going to be as 'well set' as anyone in the league. We're going to have zero margin for injury depth-wise after this season. Banking one scholarship is OK; banking two when you have an obvious need is not.

Are we gonna sign MO or not?

T---I'm not in a panic mode but I am concerned. Our returning players are simply not talented enough to allow us to be a serious contender for the MVC championship. We may have a lot of returning lettermen and people who will be with us for several years but this won't do us any good if we cannot upgrade the talent level of our players.

Our players are great kids and some of them have some talent but not enough consistant high talent to carry us much beyond mid-level MVC performance. Are any of our players truly potential NBA players?

You reminisced recently about our successes in the 1980s---Think about it---Mitchell Anderson, David Thirdkill, Donald Reese, Willy Scott, Voise Winters, Jim Les, Hersey Hawkins, Anthony Manual, Etc.---We simply do not have these kind of talented players today and we must upgrade once again to this level if we are to ever again be consistantly successful in the conference or nationally.

I suggest we take off the rose colored glasses and get our heads out of the sand regarding where we are and where we need to be.

Again, clearly a group of nice kids who work hard but with mid level, mid-major talent and not very much beyond this other than a future for the BU program that may continue to be mediocre for a very long time.

Is this what you want? I suggest we raise the bar of our expectations.
