ISU lands Wichita State transfer

If this kid (Ricky Torres) is able to be eligible next season, it could help ISU as much or more than any of their other new guys. He would be the only true point guard on their roster with any D1 experience. They have an incoming freshman point guard (D.J. Horne) who is unproven, as well as a couple of their transfers who have played a little point guard, but who are not really true PGs. Torres' value is more of a playmaker, as long as he doesn't get carried away thinking he is a scorer. He shot only 8.9% from three (4 for 45) last season for Wichita State.

ISU catches a break - as reportedly Ricky Torres has received a waiver to be eligible this fall at ISU
I hope we can catch the same break with regard to Kingsby.
 
I continue to be baffled by these inconsistent decisions by the NCAA. I am happy that they gave the kid a waiver, but their own rules say that waivers are considered when circumstances are found to include "documented mitigating circumstances that are outside the student-athlete's control and directly impact the health, safety and well-being of the student-athlete" . That is a direct quote from the NCAA release regarding their new waiver rules in 2018.
The "circumstances that are outside the student-athlete's control" include injuries, the coach leaving to take another job, or "egregious behavior by the previous school". But Torres left Wichita State by his own choice, and there doesn't appear to be any injuries or other factors "outside the player's control".

Again, I am happy the NCAA is relaxing the rules for transfers. But I just want to see them applied fairly and consistently. If Torres justifies a waiver, why wouldn't all three of Bradley's transfers (Kinsby, Nolan, and McAdoo) deserve the same?
 
He experienced hardship from 3, that's for sure lol. And that line's moving back but he can't get any worse.

Dan Muller has now confirmed that Torres underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair torn meniscus..
..states will be out 3-4 weeks and should be ready for Italy trip in early August.
Arthroscopic surgery usually is 3-4 weeks minimum - depends how much damage needed repair...
Donte Thomas had open meniscus surgery and was out 6 months...

Jeremy Crouch suffered a torn meniscus cartilage in his knee in the middle of his junior season (2006-2007). He had arthroscopic surgery to remove the torn portion, and was out about 4 weeks and missed 8 games. His absence might have cost Bradley a couple games, but he came back strong and Bradley finished that season 22-13, ended the season with an RPI of 39, and still made in the NIT. Jeremy averaged 13.8 ppg that season, and lead the entire country with his 50.0% three point shooting-
