The Basketball Tournament- Always a Brave in Illinois Region

I was hoping for more of a “cruise” game 2nite with a bit less drama…but boy did DB Jr put on a show, proving he is one of greatest Braves in the past 30 years. Just like St Louis all over again!
Luqman’s energy got us out of a little funk and Nate’s tough layup to end the 3rd Q gave us some breathing room. How about some bonus pts and boards by Beifeldt!

Crowd really got into it again - let’s get a bigger one on Wednesday!!
That just felt gOOOd!

I say lets implement the Elam ending in all basketball leagues. Man, what a great idea that was!

Cellus with the game winner again tonight, but man, everyone showed up and did something special. Luqman's energy was amazing and reminiscent of 2019 MVC tourney championship game. Man I love that guy, but honestly, how can you not love them all. This tournament has been a blast!

DB played like he’s was in the 2020 Mo Valley Conference tournament. 18 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Started to take advantage of Jackson’s over aggressive defense and made them pay. POB with 9, Nate and Tony with 8 and Warren and Lundy with 7. Definitely a better played game by Always a Brave. Maybe a bigger crowd shows up on Wednesday as they take on Boeheims Army at 8:00.

The Player of the Game tonight was Darrell Brown, Jr. with 18 points on 8-12 shooting (1-3 from three), 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals.
Every other player who played also made significant contributions. Jimmy Gavin was absent tonight. If anyone hears why, let us know.

This was a close game the end of the 3rd quarter when the Bradley alums pulled out to a 5 point lead (49-44). The the BU alumni dominated the 4th quarter and the Elam ending 20-6 to put the game away. Nonetheless, the Elam Ending made for an exciting ending with 'Cellus draining a long 3-pointer, his only points of the game.

Always a Brave's next game (3rd round) is Wednesday night at 8:00 pm against Boeheim's Army. The game will be on ESPN2.
Boeheim's Army defeated Heartfire 68-62 in the 6:00 pm game tonight. Their team is made up of mostly Syracuse alumni, but their best player is Keifer Sykes, who played at Wisconsin-Green Bay for Brian Wardle. He had 17 points tonight for Boeheim's Army.

Go AAB!

Watching the game on TV in South Carolina last night I was impressed with the crowd. Great support for the team. It also looked like BU’s current players are into this as well.

The ticket office did a good job for ESPN, they basically only sold tickets on one side of the lower bowl so the arena appeared full on the side the cameras would pick up. I’m sure it worked out nice but the crowd seen on tv was probably 80% of the attendance!

I just want to say I had blast last night watching AAB play. It was a great game. DB was fantastic to watch again. Seeing PoB, Marcellus, TB, Druff, & coach B doing their thing. It almost brought tears to my eyes seeing those guys out there, they were my classmates and hero’s for what they did on the court.

it was also amazing to see DB, LL, and Nate our there together again along with Drew. Such an emotional night for me seeing all these guys back on the court. The outcome of the game was just a huge boost to the overall experience.

This is awesome Stryker! I think this run in the tourney is more emotional than the others in TBT for us Braves fans - being in Peoria and perhaps the last run for a few BU legends/heroes, combined with the young guns whose season/career got cut short due to Covid.

I REALLY wanted us to win last night. Any more wins would be a bonus, but I think I'm ok with whatever happens Wed. The last 2 games have been remarkable, especially the 1st improbable comeback. So cool how Cellus made the GW shot in both games - he has such a heart for the people of Peoria and such a great role model, and the face of the Braves in that magical Sweet 16 year.

Can u guys imagine what kind of dream Nate K is livin' this past month?

And let's get one thing straight - when DB is out to prove something, he finds another gear, and gets it done!
What can BROWN do for you? A Whole heck of a lot for B-U!

Watching the game on TV, I had the definite feeling that the announcers were pulling for the TN team. During the first half, they could only praise TN team. During the second half, they changed their tune. By the end of the game they were finally being complimentary to AAB. I expect to hear praise for Syracuse team in the next game, but hopefully results will be similar. Go Braves!!!

As an added side note Bradley, Coach Wardle and the current Bradley basketball team are getting great publicity on national TV

This is probably the best thing about this platform. Bradley and Peoria are really coming across as a great basketball town to anyone watching.

And well said LittleBrave. This is a great and emotional last run for one of Bradley's greatest teams in history -- The Sweet 16 team. Cellus is such a great ambassador for Peoria and Bradley University. It would be really special if his kid ended up at Bradley and has an opportunity to one-up his old man.

IN DA HOUSE! Fans are on both sides of the lower bowl. Each section is now either 100 or 200. So section 1 is now 101 and so forth. Fans are mostly filled from Section 111 to 117 and Sections 124 and 101. Boehem’s Army has a lot of tall looking athletes but it’s nothing this group hasn’t seen before. Let’s do this Always A Brave! GET ER DONE!

10-9 Boeheims army leads with 3;15 left. Both teams playing some pretty tough defense so far. POB really struggled with the pace of the game but then again he’s closing in on 40 so no wonder.
