Transfer portal players

With no penalty for transferring now, this will be the case with every successful mid-major player moving forward.

I've gotta say, so far impressed with Mast and Leons. I can only assume they've had conversations trying to lure them away.

For sure. Sure hoping we don’t lose anyone else.

ISU transfer Antonio Reeves' current list-

Texas Tech
BYU
Memphis
Xavier
Alabama
DePaul
Oklahoma
Arizona State
Kentucky
Duke
North Carolina
Ohio State
Wisconsin

If he chooses Arizona State, they would have an all-ISU backcourt with D.J. Horne and Reeves.
But the obvious connection that all those schools have is a lot of wealthy boosters, and lucrative NIL deals.

Really a big blow to Illinois coach Brad Underwood. I wouldn't be surprised if he is on the phone now looking to get another point guard from the portal.

I don't think this is as big of blow as some think. Curbelo plays a different style PG than a lot of of High Majors are looking for. He can't shoot from mid range or 3. I am an Illinois fan, and I am a Curbelo fan, but they want to get longer and put better shooters on the floor. He will thrive much better without a Kofi plugging up the middle.

One of Murray State's key players, Justice Hill, entered the transfer portal today and is already hearing from these schools- Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, USC, Purdue, San Francisco, Minnesota, BYU and Nevada,
https://twitter.com/HoopScoopMedia/s...57294652600335

Hill was Murray State's starting point guard. He was 2nd on the team in minutes played (31.3 mpg), 36% three point shooter, averaged 13.4 ppg, and lead team with 173 assists (5.1 apg).

Valparaiso's Sheldon Edwards also enters the transfer portal.

Sheldon Edwards (Valpo transfer- 11.4 ppg) tells this blogger that he has heard from Florida Atlantic, Florida International, University of South Florida, Stetson, Grand Canyon, Santa Clara, Loyola Chicago, BYU, Appalachian State, Duquesne, Charlotte, Loyola Marymount, Indiana State, Georgia State, and others.

Wouldn’t mind seeing the Braves pursuing this guy. I think he could play point.

This could really bring Murray State down a couple notches before they join the MVC...
The leading scorer and rebounder for Murray State, K.J. Williams, and extremely talented big man who averaged 18.0 ppg and 8.4 rpg, becomes the 3rd starter to enter the transfer portal. He will be coveted by every top school with an open scholarship.
https://verbalcommits.com/players/k-j-williams

Murray State now has 6 players in the portal, including 3 players who started all 34 games for them-
K.J. Williams- 18 ppg, 8.4 rpg- Junior who started all 34 games, averaged 29 mpg - he was the OVC Player of the Year

The NCAA really needs to put alid on this Transfer stuff. It is decimating teams

3 starters leaving a loaded NCAA tournament team? It is really starting to look like “self first, team last.”

It's almost as if the NCAA were trying to completely destroy mid-majors and only have the power conferences left over.

If they're going to allow this insanity, they should just open it up all the way and allow these kids to sign contracts for whatever amount they can get. At least make them pay dearly for all the poaching.

Remember how exciting it was when Murray St. joined the Valley and we all thought they'd bring a boost to our NET ranking and SOS? They're being obliterated in the Portal! Looks bleak.

This morning, a 7th Murray State player has entered the transfer portal- 6'2" sophomore guard Trae Hannibal, who averaged 22 mpg, 9.2 ppg, and 5.1 rpg. He was Murray State's 4th leading scorer.
These 7 players accounted for around 2/3 of their scoring and rebounding from this past season. And with their two 5th-year seniors also leaving (Carter Collins and Jordan Skipper-Brown), they will lose 6 of their top 7 scorers and around 3/4 of their scoring and rebounding. New head coach Steve Prohm will need a major rebuild.

There's a part of me that says to heck with it. Give up my Bradley season tickets and just drive over to Eureka and watch Division 3 ball.

I completely understand. But I've breathed too much Robertson Fieldhouse lobby smoke and have too many year's of emotion tied up with the Braves to quit now. Mort Cantor would roll in his grave if he saw today's portal rules

It's hard to keep up with all the players transferring away from Murray State. What is going on?
In addition to the 7 players previously listed, 2 more Murray State players just entered the transfer portal-
  • 3/29/2022 - 2018 SG DaQuan Smith (6-1, 185, 2★) will be transferring- redshirt soph who averaged 3.5 ppg, & 1.2 rpg
  • 3/29/2022 - 2019 SF Matt Smith (6-6, 225, 2★) will be transferring- redshirt sophomore who did not play this season
That makes 9 of Murray State's players now in the transfer portal

Adam MIller played his freshman season at Illinois, then transferred to LSU, where he tore his ACL and missed this entire season. But his coach (Will Wade) was just fired, and the LSU program is awaiting a decision from the NCAA regarding serious violations. So Adam Miller is on the move and he just entered the transfer portal again-
