2022 Coaching turnover

Apparently they held a news conference this afternoon and stated they hired a search firm and conduct a national search. A national search starting May 5 ??? Better last about 5 minutes or they may have to find intermural players to fill out the team. I understand it is most important to get the right person but geez this is a late start. I really want to see them become competitive again but pencil them in for 12 th place next year (or maybe make that with a pen not a pencil).

The are hiring a firm named TurnkeyZRG to conduct a national search. This is the same search firm they used to hire the new Athletic Director-

One of their recent transfer-recruits, Matthew Ragsdale, has already announced he is reopening his recruitment-

Ragsdale, a 6'4" junior guard who has 2 years of eligibility left, averaged a team-leading 21.5 ppg and shot 36% from three this season at Western Colorado University (Division II).

This late change also affects all of the assistants. Though the terms of Todd Lickliter's contract at UE have never been made public, he almost surely has at least a couple more years that he will get paid for. But assistant coaches generally work under 1 year deals that are renewable each season. That leaves Lickliter's entire staff out of a job, with almost no chance of finding another job for the upcoming season.

Horrible move for Evansville, Lickliter and staff should have been fired at the end of the season if they were going to fire him and not two months later. At this point you might as well have given him next season to see if he can get something going, one less year to buy out too.

I don't see how this helps their program other than making their new AD "feel" like he is doing something. So they are going to have to scramble to find a coach and put together a team before time runs out? Sounds like a bad way to build a foundation of a program.

This AD is not a Director of athletics. He is a "hatchet man"
