Bradley's next game is Saturday, Dec. 3, at 7 pm in Springfield, MO, in Great Southern Bank Arena, against Missouri State.
The arena had been known as JQH Arena since it opened in 2008, in honor of John Q. Hammons, who donated $30 million for construction and naming rights. However, Hammons died in 2013, and his hotel company went into bankruptcy in 2016, and Missouri State did not receive all of the money pledged. So this year, Great Southern Bank paid $5.5 million to buy permanent naming rights.

Bradley is now 5-3 after their 68-53 win Wednesday over UNI. And Missouri State is 4-3 after they won Wednesday 66-51 at UIC.
Missouri State was picked 4th in the MVC Preseason Poll- https://mvc-sports.com/news/2022/10...s-mvc-mens-basketball-preseason-favorite.aspx

Last season, MSU was 23-11 overall, and 13-5 in the MVC, tied with Loyola and Drake for 2nd place a game behind UNI. They played in the NIT and were eliminated in their first game, an 89-72 loss at Oklahoma.
Bradley lost both games to Missouri State last season.
They returned only 1 starter (Donovan Clay), and 2 deep reserves (Raphe Ayres, Dawson Carper) from last year's team. Head Coach Dana Ford rebuilt the roster with a bunch of transfers and several freshmen recruits.

Schedule/results- https://missouristatebears.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule

Leading scorer is 6'6" sophomore guard Chance Moore, a transfer from Arkansas. He was a 4-star recruit for Arkansas, but only appeared in 5 games for them last season before transferring to MSU. He averages 15.5 ppg in 22 minutes/game off the bench, and is shooting an MVC-leading 53.8% from three.
Starters are:
6'8" senior forward Donovan Clay, a transfer from Valparaiso (9.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg)
6'2" sophomore guard Alston Mason, a transfer from Oklahoma (8.9 ppg)
6'3" senior guard Bryan Trimble, a grad-transfer from Akron (8.7 ppg)
6' senior guard Kendle Moore, a grad transfer from Colorado State (8.1 ppg)
6'8" junior forward Jonathan Mogbo, a junior college transfer from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (5.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg).
Stats- https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.si...022/11/16/Missouri_State_MBB_Season_Stats.pdf

They shoot 44.4% overall, and 35.3% from three as a team. They are shooting 58.3% on Free Throws, which ranks 12th among MVC teams this year.
They are a very good rebounding team. MSU leads the MVC in offensive rebounds and rebounding margin, and is 2nd in overall rebounds/game.
Their starting point guard at the beginning of the season, Matthew Lee, a senior transfer from St. Peter's, is out with a torn ACL suffered in their second game of the season. Donovan Clay now leads them in assists (4.0 per game).

Bradley's 3-point shooting (36.3%) ranks 2nd among MVC teams behind Belmont (38.9%).

I’ll take our bigs against anyone in the league with the 3 headed monster of Mast, Hannah and Leon’s. I’m more concerned about guard heavy teams.

We know we can win at home at a high rate.
The Valley road is where championships are won. Mo State is a middle pack team, and if we're to be a contender, this is a game we need to win, or at least go down to the wire.

We seem to have trouble in Springfield nearly every season - then again, same is true at Indy St., Northern Iowa, ISU-red, Loyola, Drake - even Valpo until last year.
Need to turn the tide!

Go BU!

We also seem to have trouble winning early in the MVC season. Winning on the road and starting out 2-0 plants the flag as a MVC title contender.

Agree here. Basically my whole life as a BU fan the valley road success has been elusive and therefore kept us from regular season championships. However, it isn’t a matter of “ let’s start winning road games, so we can be a good team“ … it’s more a factor of doing the hard things physically and mentally to become a good team… and the road wins will be the result. I feel this staff has moved us in the right direction

Braves are 3.5 pt underdogs this morning. O/U is 136.5.

Missouri State is now down to a 2.5 point favorite as it appears most of the Vegas money is being bet on Bradley.

Definately one of the most impressive wins in a long time especially at a place that's normally been a house of horrors. About the only thing we did wrong was have 16 turnovers but had 15 assists, out rebounded the Bears 39-27, had 8 steals and 6 blocks and we held them to just 16-51 overall, 2-15 from 3. Conner Hickman had his best overall game at BU as he had 8 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists Leons had 10 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks, Mast had 15 points and 6 rebounds and Christian Davis just makes plays on both ends. Hopefully we can take this effort on the road again on Tuesday at SIUE.

The one positive from all the injuries we’ve had already this season is CD. Without the injuries, he never gets the minutes he has and we’d never know how steady and reliable he could be.

Total butt whipping from start to finish by Bradley.
Final score- Bradley 58 Missouri State 40.
stats- https://missouristatebears.com/sidea...s/mbball/media

Bradley shot 44.2% overall, but they held Missouri State to 31.4% for the game, and 13.3% from three with terrific defense.
Bradley outrebounded MSU 39-27. An all around great game by everyone.
Rienk Mast- 15 points & 6 rebounds
Malevy Leons- 8 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 blocks, and incredible defense
Connor Hickman- 8 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists- Player of the Game!
Duke Deen- 6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and only 1 turnover
Ville Tahvanainen- 9 points off the bench
Christian Davis- 8 points, 3 rebounds, and he was also very effective on defense
Darius Hannah limited to 15 minutes with fouls, but played great defense, and had 4 points.

MVC Standings- Bradley all alone at 2-0

Very good win for Bradley, start to finish. Only concern was fouls and they weathered that too. Things are looking up, really happy with Davis fulfilling a roll as a freshman and holding his own...:-o:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

Most others had similar comments, but I also felt like it was one of the most complete games, especially on the road, I have seen in years. Really impressive to never let them go on much of a run the whole game.

I'm starting to wonder, does Zek actually make us better? Probably yes, but with Ville finding his shot, Davis contributing on both ends ... who is he taking big minutes from and is it deserved?

Great road win. Nice to finally start well in Valley play against two typically good teams no less. I don’t see any reason we should start the rest of the Valley season any less than 9-4. Arkansas could get a scare too if we keep improving.

The good was Mast, Hickman, Leons, who all contribute in so many ways. Team defense and rebounding was outstanding. Deen has been up and down but is a good player to have. Davis really should be starting to me until Zek is back. Hannah has not played well on offense at all lately and tries to make big plays too often and gets sloppy. Plus as well as we have played lately, we have still started slowly. Davis seems to be a spark for good things on both ends.

Ville is solid is his role off the bench, but he still needs to make more open threes. Pop didn’t do anything to improve his standing today. I’m still baffled at Linke getting minutes at all, but I guess I’m just going to have to live with it until Henry is healthy. It begs the question how bad Brian thinks Biliew is right now.

Great win, but don’t look past this next game with a break and Arkansas to follow. Keep moving forward and improving!

I have noticed Coaches teams going back a couple years have been better in the second half than the first. Of which I don't care as long as they win
