Zek and now Mast signings laughable. Move to a better conference (Zek’s barely) with a bottom feeder team in their conference and still not making the tourney…small fish in a big pond mentality now.

I’m not so sure either signing is laughable. Both will be playing in better conferences than the MVC. Rienk in particular will be playing against much better competition, which should benefit his professional career in Europe.
it could also somewhat squash future pro career prospects as in Derrik Smits, Reggie Lynch, Ryan Taylor, Isiaih Mosley and Dominick Olejniczak

Imagine if Patrick O'Bryant had decided to transfer to a "big" school instead of going to the draft. I feel rather confident he wouldn't have been the 9th pick in the draft the following year. Not the same talent level but I think yoda's point is spot on.

Reink’s whole move is to the play in the tourney or under the bright lights. Nebraska average attendance last year (5,140) while the Braves were right under 5k (pretty much a wash). Nebraska hasn’t made the tourney since 2014 while the Braves went back in 2019 and should have went during Covid year 2020.
Nebraska being a bottom feeder Big 10 school gives about the same chance as the Braves to make the tourney.
As for offensive fit, this is probably a good spot for Rienk if he wants to be in the Big 10. That being said I don't think this moves the needle for his pro development. He would have better in the Pac 12 or Big East where they don't have as many traditional bigs. He's going to struggle with his strength there.
I wish Rienk well, but IMO Nebraska is about the worst choice he could have made. Yes, it gets him into the Big Ten, but Nebraska was the 12th place team this past season, and they will be terrible again next year. They'll pick up a couple additional transfers like Hoiberg does every year, and that will give their fans some hope against the weak non-conference slate that he usually schedules. But then they'll struggle in the conference part of their schedule.

Wow. That's certainly not what I expected. Going to the 12th place team in a conference that embarrassed itself once again in the tournament? What was he thinking? Maybe they offered him too much $$$$$ to turn down, even though he said that wasn't what motivated him. I only like Indiana in the Big Ten, so I won't be watching him. I'm sure Coach or others will periodically post updates next season..
I thought Nebraska was much improved this year when I watched them this year but 12 place is still 12th place. They did sweep Iowa this year so maybe that is why Rienk choose to play at Nebby over Iowa.

Neither going to Nebraska or Rhode Island is impressive at all especially compared to the overall situation at Bradley.
Hmm. Interesting. I wonder who Iowa wanted more, Krikke or Rienk. I know we’ve been biased towards Rienk here, but it will be interesting to see which one does better in the Big 10. Hoiberg always seems like a nice guy, but he’s in trouble if this season doesn’t go well. I guess Rienk won’t care at that point, though he is technically eligible for two more years. Well, I hope Rienk finds what he wants, but more importantly I hope Bradley finds what we want much more. This seems less about winning though, and more about getting a chance to face better competition to prep for a pro career. I would have thought Rienk would want to win more.

Sorry, but going from the best team in the valley to maybe the worst team in the big ten doesn’t seem to me to even be a lateral move, but a step back. Must be the money, but hard to even see that.
I don’t know Reink, but I’m pretty confident he is no dummy. He’s smart enough to know that his chance of going to the NCAA tournament at were better at Bradley. He obviously went there for other reasons and I’m guessing he spoke to his parents about his decision. I believe he will play professionally in Europe and make a good living.
Really not a bad decision for Rienk. Sure Nebraska basketball has been bad for quite some time, but he will likely get a good amount of playing time against some of the best big men in the country being in the Big 10.

If it’s all just about development, that’s one thing… he’ll play against some high level competition for sure. But after a lot of losing, I wonder if it would feel like such a great move at the end of a tough season. I guess we will see.
