SIUE is coached by Brian Barone. They were 19-14 last season, 9-9 in the Ohio Valley Conference (tied for 6th). That was their first winning season since they became a Division I program in 2008-2009.

Bradley is 5-0 all time against SIUE.

Not a game to take lightly. We desperately NEED not only to Win, but to improve on taking care of the ball and tighter defense.
This team needs some fire - they are playing hard, but sometimes that's not enough.

Go BRAVES! Let's go on a run and not look back!

I agree, watched a replay of SIUE last night. Very quick and can shoot.
we need to play hard with much improved Defense.

Looks like SIUE hasn't won a road game yet, so let's hope we're not their first one.

Yes. Looking like he will miss this game and probably the next one against Truman State.

Well we are gonna have to learn to play without him and win these next 2 games. When Hickman returns we should be that much better. Trying to find a sliver lining guys.

Gotta say this is the most frustrating time as a Braves fan since we lost the first 5 out of the gate in the 2018-'19 season. Better days certainly followed!

Thank goodness for Duke Deen’s hot streak in that half or we’d be losing. Stupid turnovers continue.

Ellis and Jonovic are regressing. Ellis looks unplayable at times the last couple, awful turnovers. A walk-on is getting big minutes now at guard, that’s how bad it has gotten. Burch is in a funk. I still believe in his potential, but he is more than experiencing growing pains now. Still aren’t getting Atlason shots. Davis seemed ok, and Hannah and Leons seemed like mostly non-factors but ok I guess.

If Deen doesn’t keep it up (which seems unlikely) or someone else step up in a big way, we may lose this game. Leons has to take charge in half two.

Braves are hard to watch...Leons 2 pts 2 fouls...guards out of control losing the ball on the dribble...lazy passes against what should be a subpar team on your home court.:oops::oops:.....we have to play a walk-on major minutes....gonna be a long season....:idea::idea:

NIce call here - Mal certainly did! Favored by 11, win by 11. Things need to be cleaned up but this was a lot better (other than Ellis really having another rough game).

Other than Deen I wouldn’t say anyone played great. Leons was much better in the second half and Davis made some nice plays. Burch did better in the second half too, which was nice to see. Not the best game, but we won.

Good defense in 2nd half. They held SIUE to 25% shooting in the 2nd half (7-28).
Duke Deen with the best game of his career- 27 points, 3 rev, 3 assists, and one turnover
Malevy Leon with another double double, and his usual break defense.
Christian Davis with a nice game,14 & 8.
Hannah with 9 & 7, and Case Hard the with good contribution.

Ellis is moving deeper into the doghouse. Meta is best in spurts. The ball stuck a bit more this game but Duke was making shots so it was covered up. Davis seems to be a really good glue guy to me - defense, rebound, make shots. Burch may have potential but he doesn’t see the floor - which is what drives me nuts about all ball handlers. I like that Cade got minutes - he’s one of the few guys trying to stay in his lane. He hustles, plays hard, doesn’t take his opportunity for granted. Some of the other fellas should take note. Leons and Hannah are going to be up and down - it’s tough to be the target of the opponent. So the guards have to do their part to help those two.

Nice to stop the slide but we're lucky Duke had a great night.

Ellis looked lost out there. He tried to drive and lost the ball twice in almost the same way. Not a good sign that we are playing Hardtke in his place who is a walk on (he has done a good job though given the situation) while we have three bigs on scholarship that don't play. Ellis really needs to be able to contribute if we want to have success in the conference season.

Atlason also still somewhat lost, and he got beat on defense pretty bad.

Burch looked somewhat better out there tonight. He is still a little out of control but you have to love the effort.

Leons, Davis, and Hannah were all pretty typical, not great not be terrible either.

Nice to get a W. I saw some spurts of that hustle pressure D that makes us a much better team. And also some spurts of that quick ball movement that generates good looks and points for us. Also saw too many turnovers and bad decisions. I'll take the W any day though. Duke really carried us through the first half and that was a lot of fun to see a player so in the zone. One more and then the real important games start.

Bottom line is that we got the W! Never seen Brian work that hard on the sidelines and he even said he gave himself a headache because he was trying to keep the guys engaged on defense. For the first time in awhile we didn't let a team come back late on us. However we never really extended the lead to put them away either. Duke was on FIRE in the first half and Leons, Davis and Burch carried the load offensively in the 2nd half. Hopefully the guys get to enjoy their Christmas break and are ready to start another winning streak.

You knew after the first that Deen had that SIUE would come out and cover him like a blanket. In my opinion a sign of good things to come is when others step up. We are not a finished product by any means. Lot of improvement to be made yet. Looking forward to a great conference season ahead. And on to St. Louis.
