Valpo AD stepping down suddenly & unexpectedly...
Charles Hall, just hired 2 years ago - no reason given other than the standard "to pursue other opportunities".

Kinda sounds a little like the reason they gave with Bo Ryan and Walter McCarty

Taking over as Interim AD is Laurel Hosmer who is even newer to Valpo than Roger Powell.
She was just hired in January 2024. - https://www.valpoathletics.com/athletics/staff/13805/laurel-hosmer/

Interesting Comment about The Majors poaching the mid-Major players/ Coaches also! Then they loose to other Mid-Majors like Kentucky getting beat by Oakland! There will always be surprise Mid-Major players who perform well and surprise high major teams! That's the fun of the upsets! But in the end while it's great for a mid-Major or two making the Final 4, it's almost Impossible for them to beat the best high major team for the Championship!! (Calling Connecticut). However, for a mid-Major to Win a Regional championship, to me that's equivalent to a mid-Major Winning it all by reaching the Final 4! I'm personally fulfilled when say a Bradley can make the sweet 16 ( 2006) or a loyola can make the final 4 ( 2018 ) In the end, to me that's more success then a Major Team who is filled to the Brim with talent because of there power conference $$ that dictates where the Best players end up playing!!! GO MID-MAJORS!!!!

Official announcement- Darian DeVries Named West Virginia Head Men’s Basketball Coach - https://wvusports.com/news/2024/3/2...west-virginia-head-mens-basketball-coach.aspx

Darian DeVries' contract at West Virginia is $15 million for 5 years, with a possibility of a 6th year at $3.3 million. - https://www.dominionpost.com/2024/0...for-a-sixth-season-worth-another-3-3-million/

DeVries, who spent the last six seasons at Drake University, will earn $2.8 million for the 2024-25 season, and each additional season will add another $100,000 to his total.
DeVries is signed through the end of the 2028-29 season, but that may change if he is able to produce a quick turnaround with the Mountaineers.
That’s because of an Automatic Extension Clause in the contract that states if WVU finishes in the top six (including tiebreakers) of the Big 12 — the league balloons to 16 teams next season — in any of his first two seasons, the deal will automatically be extended for one season.
That possible extension would also be worth an additional $100,000, meaning his total deal could go up to $18.3 million.

Darian DeVries was working with 8-year contract extension at Drake, signed in 2021, that ran through the 2028-29 season.
Various sources report that he earned around $600,000 this past season.

Cuonzo Martin heading back to Missouri St for a 2nd stint

News broke yesterday early afternoon when ESPN's Pete Thamel tweeted that Cuonzo Martin was working on a deal to become Missouri State's next coach. However, more than a day later, Missouri State has still not made any official announcement. Some MSU followers were beginning to worry.
But just minutes ago, Pete Thamel tweeted again that a deal was in place - https://twitter.com/PeteThamel/status/1772778375234359341

So it finally looks like a done deal.

that's some detailed info for a source "close to Josh Schertz". knowing info on $ amts and years offered and which he has already declined.
I wonder if this source's name rhymes with "Posh Pertz" and he's just leaking info to get a higher bid.

:)
Sometimes that is how the game is played.

There are reports that Indiana State has boosted their offers of salary increases a couple times, and it's now up to $1.3 million.
