Final score: St. Bonaventure 69 Bradley 63

Proud of the comeback despite coming up short. Shows some fight. Bully is a STUD. O Show still makes me nervous. Alex is a nice shooter and our only shooter on the floor IMO.

Meta, Corey and TIMO = no shows

I think DJ, Zobrist and YU get more PT by end of the year. Zobrist will def help with our poor 3 PT Shooting.

I agree with you except about Corey. He had 10 points in just 21 minutes off the bench. He shot 50%, no turnovers, and nailed those 3 free throws late that gave Bradley a chance at the end. Compared to AJ's production, I'd rather see Corey with the starters and AJ coming off the bench, IMO. Wardle plays Corey as a sub for Meta, but he's not really a "5" player. I'd like to see more of him on the floor with Meta as the "4".

I agree. With the current roster I think this may be our best option. This team really needed a banger/glass cleaner on the roster

i think that is supposed to be AJ....
Well then anybody who thinks that doesn’t understand basketball.. like I said when we got him.. he’s 6’7” .. which isn’t big enough anymore to play the 4 or 5 consistently at the D1 level.

Plus he’s more skilled imo to play the 3.. he’s got a nice advantage at the 3 with his strength, but putting him at the 4 and expecting him to excel there is a stretch. You get worn down with bigger players leaning and bumping on u all game, and there’s only so much he can do defensively against 6”9” and bigger players.

I’m talking somebody like Frank Mitchell, the center on St Bonaventure.. he’s 6”9’, 270 lbs… he had 12 pts and 9 rebs, and he’s not very skilled to be honest, but he’s a bull. I saw him in warmups and thought this guy will give us trouble because we have nobody that will match his toughness, and he did. We need that type of guy.

I thought Timo would rise to the occasion and provide rebounding, but he got pushed around and couldn't snag a few rebounds that ended up in the hands of a Bonnie who scored. I really like Timo - has a good head for the game, but he looked bad yesterday and can't seem to find the bottom of the net when shooting 3s. Really need him to step up this season as a soph.

You might like (and will get some of) playing Meta and Corey at 4/5 together but they can’t do that for 40 mins and that leaves you with AJ, Timo and maybe Kai as your sub options. I think that means you will see AJ at the 4 a fair amount. Those are the bodies we have…..

I am encouraged that we battled back and stayed with them right to the end.
The comeback started when our guards started to take it hard to the hoop.
I agree, we are not getting much out of the 42 minutes Meta & Timo combined playing - just 4 pts
and if you throw in Corey - the three combined for 63 minutes of frontcourt playing time but just 9 rebounds,
virtually none of which were offensive rebounds and we had zero 2nd chance points off offensive rebounds.

We need AJ, Timo and Meta to play better period. AJ and Timo were 1 for 12 shooting which is why we lost. Meta with only 4 points and 3 rebounds also hurt our chances of winning. We have 13 scholarship players and once again we only played 8 guys for whatever reason. I understand we have a lot of new players but these non conference ones should give you a chance to give more guys a chance to see what they can contribute.

Just five offensive rebounds for Bradley compared to 15 for St. Bonaventure. Not gonna get many second chances with so few offensive boards. Defensive boards, FWIW: 24 for BU and 29 for SB.

Not sure why AJ plays so much - let alone was a starter. He has not impressed me in what I've seen so far. As long as he crashes the boards - need 5 reb. minimum from him each game - maybe a couple putbacks.
Definitely not one of our 5 best guys...not yet anyhow

Who is the go-to guy going to be on this team? Who takes the big shot? Need to sort that out
O-Show fo Sho...but I don't think he's ever been in that opportunity for BU.
I'd feel confident with the ball in his (or Quanny's) hands when the game is on the line...or Alex for 3, but struggled a bit with his shot yesterday, tho 3-7 isn't shabby.

Yep - if any of these 3 played better, we likely would have won.

I am confident this team will gel really well, but might not be until Dec. We have a lot of winnable games in the non-conf schedule to find our mojo. The key is to get better and get the right combos on the floor...in prep for the Valley season. Let's face it - we're not gonna be an At-Large team so dropping a game like this is not the end of the world.

I could see the talent in at least 6 of the 8 guys (Alex, Burch, Quan, Wheeler, Meta, CT)...definitely good enough to contend for the title once again. I thought we played well for about 25 minutes, but the rebounding discrepancy was noticeable and the obvious area we need to work on, cause we definitely win that game if the rebounding had been more even.

Guards taking care of the ball - strong "A", which was an area we needed to improve upon this season.

We brought AJ in to play the 4 and I believe he will be a great fit for us once the Valley season begins this year. So far i have not seen much improvement in Meta this season and not sure his injury during the summer workouts is not holding him back but he needs to rebound and score more for this team.

That's the dilemma.....but I feel like we should have seen that coming and addressed...I know sometimes it's not as easy as it sounds but it seems we didn't really target that kind of player either.

Yeah, in the Valley, I think we can get away with AJ at the 4, and Meta will be better againts 90% of the Valley teams, but we ultimately need to beat those upper echelon teams as well to get to the dance, which cost us last year even with the length we had.
Against upper tier teams and bigger conferences, I think this team will continue to struggle in the rebound and inside play department...need to find a way to offset that

Meta rebounds ok in his circle...his rebounding circle is not very big tho..hes not a go getter on rebounds....which is why our guards and 3 man really need to make sure they keep their men from crashing...charles killed us by crashing the offensive glass from the 3 spot, while our bigs may have had their man taken care of, charles came flying in and took those rebounds before the bigs could get done wrestling and go get them....this is type of rebounder Timo and AJ could be if they are at the 3, but are usually held and leaned on at the 4 and 5 so much they aren't free to chase those offensive rebounds down.
