Indiana State, Drake, and Northern Iowa have winnable home games. Illinois State faces a slightly tougher game on the road at Ohio University.
Ohio was picked 4th in the MAC preseason poll, but they may not be that good. They lost both their exhibition games, and lost their opening game at home to Arkansas State 85-89.

Ohio 72 - ISU 68, but it never seemed that close in the 2nd half as ISU couldn't get stops when they needed
Kinzinger had a good game
but he can't do it all himself...
Chase Walker had a terrible game - 7 pts, 4 reb, 5 fouls
Daugherty, who killed us last year was scoreless, 0-5, and plays poor defense
nobody off the bench did anything - Coleman played a lot of minutes but was 1-5, 3 pts, 2 reb

and Drake has trailed much of the entire game to Robert Morris but they have tightened it - 63-62 with 3:35 to go

Robert Morris was just annihilated by Iowa two nights ago by 32 points. Now on their way home, they make a side trip to Des Moines and beat Ben McCollum's old team.

The Valley is not a great league this season and anybody that was picked to finish in the top 5 is capable of winning this league.
 
Loyola loses a buy game at home to lowly Mercyhurst 73-65.
Mercyhurst is a former all-girls school that is transitioning from D2 to DI.

It's turning out to be a very bad week for ex-MVC member Loyola.
After losing a buy game Friday night to Mercyhurst, today they are struggling even worse, shooting just 20% and trailing North Texas 34-20 at halftime in Chicago. North Texas is coached by former Rock Island HS star and former Loyola and ISU assistant Daniyal Robinson.
Loyola's starters are just 3-13 from the field, and 1-8 from 3-pt, but they still have 20 min to go.

update- Chicago kid, Dylan Arnett, hits the buzzer beater for North Texas, to beat Loyola 64-62

Loyola's bad week continues...
there's not a lot of good games to watch (except the OKC Thunder is on ESPN+) so I'm following the Loyola/Wichita State game - two former MVC members...

Loyola's getting their butts handed to them... down 22 with 13 min to go ...
they are shooting 53% from 3-point (9-17) but they don't have a lot of defense...
This will be a three game losing streak ...

update- woulda been a 30 point blowout except for garbage time-

Maybe I shouldn't pick on Loyola but they sure make themselves an easy target...
I thought they'd pick up an easy win tonite hosting NIU but right now they trail by 10 in the first half
NIU is shooting 8-10 from 3-point

NIU has a 6-10 freshman kid from Denmark who is shooting an incredible 90.5% from the field so far on the season...
Yes, OVER 90% - he's averaging 8.6 ppg on 20-22 shooting on the year in 5 games.
Maybe he'd want to play in the MVC next year? He reminds me of a young Egidijus Mockevicius (newbies hafta look him up).
He can even hit the open 3.

update- 8 min left, NIU up by 19- fans already starting to file out & head home...
NIU has another freshman Dylan Ducommun from Switzerland, who just became eligible Tuesday,
and he has 22 pts on 8-11 and 6-9 from 3-pt.- also has 5 asst already. He is 9-15 on the season from the arc. Kid won't be long before he gets poached.
Overall NIU has 7 DI transfers, 2 juco kids and 2 Euro kids and they look good.
