2026 Portal transfers

Ahmad Henderson is also recommitted to UIC, giving them 5 key returnees from last year's squad.
Dang - UIC will be TOUGH to beat next season...definitely have an edge on BU at this point.
I'll be circling the home game vs UIC on my calendar for the upcoming season - PAYBACK is essential! :)

Olivier would be an absolute sensation at the mid-major level, just based on the novelty that he represents, let alone his likely increased ability to be effective at the mid-major level.
I'm just not a fan of guys who are 7' 4" or taller at any level of basketball. 7' 1" is fine by me.
Part of my "purist" side of hoops.

SIU's leading scorer, Quel'Ron House to enter portal

I am not a fan of one-year wonders, but I would absolutely love to pick up House! He is shifty and tough to guard, and we need a PG. But if he doesn't FIT in the BU culture, forget it.
Soon-to-be-soph Jalen Haynes is returning, so a bit of good news for Saluk's.

Let's take a look at Federico from Drake too!

He’s a shoot first, second and third sub-6-ft guard -
There’s a reason teams who rely on high volume shooters like that finish in the lower half of the standings

I hope we find a very impactful player(s) in the Portal! It appears Belmont, Murray State, and UIC are keeping at least 1 decent player for next year. We still don't know if Illinois State will do the same? Would we say Timo will be are most impactful returning player? Also Add Valparaiso to the list of keeping at least 1 impactful player! At this moment, it does appear we are falling behind in the Valley, however, I don't want to panic until I see who we're bringing in. In any case, it's still so hard to pick a Valley favorite next year in this age of NIL. I just hope we're competitive in so far as a possible top 5 MVC seed team! Belmont was picked 5th last year and Illinois State 1st. We really won't know who will compete in the upper echelon of the Valley until we know all the players for each team.

Murray State's starting point guard just announced for the portal - Layne Taylor
8 ppg, 3.4 apg, 35% from 3-pt and 79% on FT's, and an excellent 3.4:1 A/T Ratio

This hurts Murray State. Taylor was their starting point guard, and their backup PG, KJ Tenner, has already announced for the portal. They also lost leading scorer Javon Jackson, who ran out of eligibility.
Looks like 6 of their top 7 scorers will be gone next year. Only Roman Domon returns of the top 7 scorers.

Yeeouch - looks like Murray HC and Wardle both have a lot of work to do to bolster their rosters before summer ends!

Ryan Miller did a pretty good job of building hisroster last year, despitegetting a late start. And Domon is a pretty good piece to build around.
But maybe their NIL isn't as well funded as some thought. Or maybe they are giving it all to Domon?

Can anyone guess what we're paying our players next year? I'll guess 50k low end, 100K high end! Maybe we got 250k to sway a relatively good High major who sat on bench last year and now wants to play? Would love to hear everyone's thoughts!

I hear varying figures, but I don't know how accurate they are. So I am not going to guess, unless we hear reliable info. And I doubt we will, and I'm OK with that.

it is being reported they are indeed throwing all their $ at Doman.... reportedly ~$1million

Murray State is loaded with talent...Domon, 1st teamer Fred King, etc...and yet they lost 9 of their final 13 games with
Domon taking tons of shots and putting up good scoring numbers.....but
Down the stretch, he got 1/2 his points at the FT line, while shooting just 30% overall and 31% from 3-pt
I think teams will figure him out and stop gifting him all those points at the FT line

Flory Bidunga is back in the portal
Finally realizes he's never gonna win a Championship at Kansas
Considering Kansas gets all the best talent every year - even more talent than Duke many years...
they still haven't made it past the Round of 32 since 2021-22.
