2026 Portal transfers

Agreed. It also doesn't help that BU was essentially "middle of the pack" this year. Not bad, but not great either. If we had been bad, yes, it would be more positive because a new roster can only be the same or better etc. But being below the top but still relatively good and seeing good players leave is a bit demoralizing, at least until new players are added to the roster.
Bradley finished in 2nd place, not what I'd call the "middle of the pack", jmho. They were picked 4th, and they finished ahead of the 3 teams that were picked ahead of them (ISU, UNI, and Murray State). I recall some who thought this would be a rebuilding season and that Bradley failed to recruit enough talent to compete for the top of the MVC.

Middle of the pack? Really? Finishing second in the regular season and getting into the NIT, especially with what Wardle had to work with, is not middle of the pack.

Look, I understand it wasn't middle of the pack, but we were 2 losses from finishing in a 3 way tie for 6th place, and we never really in contention with Belmont for the title. It didn't feel like we were a legit contender for the regular season title. Even you agree the roster over achieved to expectations. That's the point I am making it, it was exceptional that we were able to finish in 2nd, and we had a big chance of losing one more game and finishing 3-5th etc. To me that is middle of the pack. I'm also discussing sentiment here, not standings.

Also, I attended the NIT game, I was glad we made it. But Belmont turning it down for some reason is the only reason we got a post-season game. It's not like we "earned" an NIT bid. The fans know all this intuitively, that's why sentiment is, what it is.

I found this very interesting...
Drake's head coach Eric Henderson gives his unique and novel plan for recruiting that he says he's "not going to budge on"-
www.x.com/Admire_OnAir/status/2042604765067252199
He's looking for frontcourt guys who excel at defense and are strong rebounders, and veteran depth at the guard position
"They need to be talented, for sure, but experience is really important"...
"We're going to be looking in the portal"...
Haha... That sounds like the recruiting philosophy of virtually every one of the 365 Division I coaches.

Call me a skeptic, but....
Kinziger is a 5-11 guard with defensive liabilities, whose stats all took a sharp decline this year over last year...
decreased shooting percentages across the board, increased turnovers, and with only one season left...
... I'd have to believe his opportunities would have been better last year and maybe he didn't get a lot of phone calls this year.

The MVC portal transfers have slowed down, but there are still 10 days left before the portal closes.
Here were the 2026 All-MVC teams- https://mvc-sports.com/news/2026/3/4/arch-madness-2026-missouri-valley-all-conference-teams.aspx
Of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd All-MVC teams, here are the players returning as of now-
1st team- Chase Walker (Illinois State)
2nd team- no returning players
3rd team- A.J. Casey (Evansville), Roman Domon (Murray State), and J.T. Pettigrew (Valparaiso)

In defense of the Bradley fanbase they have received nothing but negative news in the last couple weeks. Natural to be down. Once they receive some positive good news the mood will change. That shows a passion for the program. Which I would want to have rather than a fanbase that didnt care
I might add to this the reported attendance level at Bradley compared to other mid-majors. Bradley is in the top half. Again, passion for the basketball program. We all want the our basketball to succeed

And Bradley has more passionate and dedicated fans. They are not all bandwagon fans. Some of the years that Bradley lead the MVC in attendance were seasons that Bradley wasn't very good (2020-21 and 2021-22)

To be fair, I didn't mean that passion is bad. I am about as passionate as it gets. I just haven't loved the sentiment that because we had a few guys transfer out that the response should be "I'm done watching college basketball." Everyone can be their own person of course but I will support BU through the highs and lows.

We used to sit in the very top row of the Fieldhouse, behind where Mort Cantor was broadcasting. Saw Larry Bird, was at the 7 OT game vs Cincy, great memories. Lifelong fan

I was at that game too, but my dad had us leave in the second or third OT thinking it was over.
