NCAA considering changes to eligibility rule

Depends on if it is retroactive or rule applies from here on forward.
It would create a nightmare if it is retroactive. How far retroactive should it go? Thousands of former players who have used up their eligibility (and played only 4 years) will sue to be included, and courts will likely agree with them.
And, if it's not retroactive, there will probably be lawsuits trying to force the NCAA to make it retroactive.

I agree. That's what I was trying to point out. I have no faith the NCAA will do the right thing

It would kind of be hilarious though, seeing G-League guys coming back in or whatever. Heck maybe just dudes that aren't even playing trying to come back in and get a bag for that extra year of eligibility. The chaos would be interesting, that's for sure.

I do see a summer tour as valuable as you have a new crew of players every year, but the expense makes it even more difficult now. Dollars spent on a tour are dollars you can’t use to compensate players. The pool of money at mid majors is not endless.

This is just a bonus for the power teams. They will throw players a bone about being able to go to Europe or the tropics or something every summer.

yeah - the big schools for years have used these rules to their advantage...

Louisville would take their kids out to dinner then bring in hookers
Kentucky took their team to the Bahamas so all their guys on visas could be paid $2 mil in NIL money and not get deported
others have gone on foreign tours and lavished their players with "extras".........like using school money to bring players' parents along
or looking the other way when they "enriched themselves"
