For what its worth (certainly less than $.02), my take on differences of the two boards is:
- first the obvious, this board has vastly different "raison d'etre" than the other board. This board is 99% focused on Bradley (I think the name was my first clue) while the other board covers a much broader set of topics which, by design, draws a broader group of posters who may or may not place BU at the top of their love list.
- consequently, the majority of the posters on this board, whose primary interest is the well-being of the university and its sports programs, tend to voice their views in a manner that is supportive, even on matters of debate (e.g., such as who should be getting playing time, should POB have gone to the pros, etc ...). The opinions posted are grounded in the common foundation of supporting the school, its programs, and its players
- the other board, not being a Bradley Fans board, has posters who clearly are not Bradley fans and, in some cases, would prefer to see Bradley not succeed. That's fine, they are entitled to be supporters, or non-supporters, of whatever they want. As a result, the opinions on the other board represent views of people who have varying agendas and axes to grind.
- There is no right or wrong board to choose, since they do not have the same mission it is not an either/or situation. But, for me as a Bradley Fan, this board has much more meaningful, constructive, and honest (i.e., no hidden agendas) viewpoints on the subject of Bradley basketball, and topics related to Bradley basketball, which is what I am interested in. I use to post and be active on the other board. Quite frankly, I haven't been there in quite a while.
It was like the time I was 28-30. I had a school chum who had moved to New Orleans to write the great American novel. To support himself, he bartended down in the Quarter. Over a period of 2 years, I frequently flew down to New Orleans for weekends and would carouse from dusk to dawn on a regular basis. On about the fifth trip, I realized that many of the aspects of the city, primarily the nightlife, that I had originally thought of as charming, exotic, and adventurous were really dirty, in disrepair, and of questionable morality. I don't go there much anymore either though I still party.
OK, I'll get off the soap box now.
