Why the hostility towards the other board?

It is hardly hostility to point out that a very erroneous report of DeAaron Williams being kiced off the team was on the other board.

I have my opinions and you can have yours.
Mine was no more hostile toward the other board than yours is towards this board.

I agree that's what makes open debate great. Too bad you can't find much good debate here. That's also why I don't really feel welcome at this board. Too much kool-aid and blindness towards the truth.

Really, in some respects I find this board divisive of Bradley Nation, since it deems some Bradley fans such as myself are not "true" fans.

You are attaching way too much importance to your opinions

 OK. Considering I'm the most humble person I know.

Squirrel, your opinions are as welcome here as anywhere else, and I doubt you have ever been called names, slammed for your opinion, or told to go somewhere else.

All of those things happen to me almost on a daily basis on the "other board", even tho I have never, ever been accused of posting foul language, threats, or anything most people would find offensive, just my opinions of BU and my observations that so many over there are so unreasonably biased against BU.

I challenge you to a throwdown.

Cite all the bad things you have ever encountered here, and I will cite the bad things I have encountered there, and I am sure I will win hands down, with a weight of evidence that trumps yours 100 to 1.

If the worst thing you can cite is that the people here are "kool aid drinkers", and that makes you want to go elsewhere, then I would have to seriously wonder who is the least tolerant of others' opinions.

The moderating on some boards drives people away and causes new boards to be developed...so just which board then is the most "divisive"?
This board has 100 times more useful info about the team, the recruits, and other factors about BU that are well researched and clearly factual, that I'd have to doubt you're even looking at this board when you make statements about "truth".

Lastly, the "us vs. "them" perspective started "there" way, way before anything ever appeared here, and even the term "koolaid drinkers" was originated as an insulting term over "there".
I see very little of the "us vs. them" stuff here, but no sooner does it get spotted then you are all over us.

aight thanks for the clarification, sorry if i started anything...for what its worth i love this board and have informed a few friends about it too who now check up on it quite frequently, dont think they have posted anything yet but this board is really cool with all the knowledge and "rumors" that seem to almost always come true so just wanted to say thanks to everyone that is always in the know and passes it along to us out of the loop guys...thanks guys and lets get a big one saturday to defend our home court against a tough wichita state team...GO BRAVES

I remember a few years back being told that the "other" board was not a BU board and that our Kool-aid drinking rears should go to another board...and here it is!!!!! Over the last couple of years there has been some great debates on here but the underlying theme is that WE ARE BRADLEY FANS HERE. We debate but without some of the ugliness that you had to put up with on the "other" board. By the way the Kool-Aid has tasted pretty good over the last twelve months and I think a new batch is on its way. Squirrel, I have no idea why you would not feel comfortable here. From my expereience you can post your thoughts and disagreements here without a problem as long as your motives are driven by a love for Bradley University and our teams. If they are not in "my opinion" you need to stay on the other board. I will close by saying that I truely appreciate this board as it has become part of my daily life. I am a busy guy but its great to come here and get away from the day to day grind and just enjoy with others Bradley's success. As stated before the information you get here has a reliability rate of about 99.9999999% and this is usually stuff that is not out to the public yet.

My thanks to the folks that run this board and thanks as well to everyone who posts here with a true conviction for Bradley University!!!!!

The problem with the story about DeAaron on the other board is the person that started this thread has been totally wrong about this situation and changes his reasons why after the facts of it keep coming out; you should not be posting rumors as they serve no purpose other then to damage the persons reputation.

It's all about me.

That is an excellent post, Mexicobufan.

And perhaps comparing the boards is apples to oranges. There has been a lot of very good Bradley talk on the other board, but there they do have UIUC, WIU, ISU, and SIU fans as well as others.

So I can certainly understand why some would not like that. And perhaps, I am just not an overwhelming fan of team specific fansites.

But it also has become one of the most successful and "looked in" sites for college sports nationally because it did not cater to a specific fan base, and the debate was uncharacteristically friendly for what is usually found on the web.

I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. I just find the other forum more stimulating.

No, Squirrelly, its, "I'm not here to feathers ruffle." as in:

I'm not here to feathers ruffle.
I'm just here to do the Superbowl shuffle.

Go Braves

2007. The year Patriots fans have waited 21 years for

This board has helped me get over not seeing the Braves in person as I did since 1963. I do see 5 or 6 games before I leave. Thanks to all who make this board possible. GO BRAVES.

For what its worth (certainly less than $.02), my take on differences of the two boards is:
- first the obvious, this board has vastly different "raison d'etre" than the other board. This board is 99% focused on Bradley (I think the name was my first clue) while the other board covers a much broader set of topics which, by design, draws a broader group of posters who may or may not place BU at the top of their love list.
- consequently, the majority of the posters on this board, whose primary interest is the well-being of the university and its sports programs, tend to voice their views in a manner that is supportive, even on matters of debate (e.g., such as who should be getting playing time, should POB have gone to the pros, etc ...). The opinions posted are grounded in the common foundation of supporting the school, its programs, and its players
- the other board, not being a Bradley Fans board, has posters who clearly are not Bradley fans and, in some cases, would prefer to see Bradley not succeed. That's fine, they are entitled to be supporters, or non-supporters, of whatever they want. As a result, the opinions on the other board represent views of people who have varying agendas and axes to grind.
- There is no right or wrong board to choose, since they do not have the same mission it is not an either/or situation. But, for me as a Bradley Fan, this board has much more meaningful, constructive, and honest (i.e., no hidden agendas) viewpoints on the subject of Bradley basketball, and topics related to Bradley basketball, which is what I am interested in. I use to post and be active on the other board. Quite frankly, I haven't been there in quite a while.

It was like the time I was 28-30. I had a school chum who had moved to New Orleans to write the great American novel. To support himself, he bartended down in the Quarter. Over a period of 2 years, I frequently flew down to New Orleans for weekends and would carouse from dusk to dawn on a regular basis. On about the fifth trip, I realized that many of the aspects of the city, primarily the nightlife, that I had originally thought of as charming, exotic, and adventurous were really dirty, in disrepair, and of questionable morality. I don't go there much anymore either though I still party.

OK, I'll get off the soap box now.

So that sums it up??

Whoa, you are harder on some of those guys over there than I have ever been!

 Now, T. That story was nothing more than a Saturday morning parable from an over-caffinated mind. Any similarity those descriptions have to the other board would be purely coincidental.

i like both boards and post on both. many of the same posters that post on the "other" board like tornado, dogrus, mike radigan, and me post on both.

i don't like all the non-bu threads on either board so usually i just post about bu. i like the pro-bu stance and posts on this board. i have visited cu and siu fan boards and those two have alot more critical posts on anything that goes wrong with their teams.this board is usually 99% positive no matter what.

i do like the other board having a mix of fans. sometimes it is interesting to interact with fans with different viewpoints about teams. although sometimes i don't agree, i can handle posters with different viewpoints than myself.

glad both boards exist.

But free speech is not really available on the PJ board.
After numerous of my posts were deleted, and there was nothing wrong with them, I don't go there.
