Indiana State beats UNI 59-46

If this result holds up, Bradley will pull back into a tie for 4th place in the MVC, and 1 game behind the 3rd place team.

Current standings--

Team..............MVC....All
Southern Ill.....10-3...19-5
Creighton........10-3...16-7
Missouri State...8-5...17-7
Northern Iowa...7-5...16-7
Bradley............7-6...16-9
Wichita St........6-7...15-9
Evansville.........5-8...12-12
Indiana St........4-8...11-11
Illinois St.........4-9....12-12
Drake.............3-10...12-12

Welcome to 4th place BU! Looks more and more like a 4-5 NCAA elimination game in St. Louis. The only question now is whether it will be WSU or UNI meeting us there. If things play out like it looks like they will, we might be the only team still with legitimate at-large hopes in that game.

UNI next 6 are:

hm drake
hm MSU
at CU
at Nevada
at BU
hm to ISU

2-4 in that stretch very possible
2-3 in MVC

Thats 9-9 in MVC

they really might be looking at a play in game or struggling to a 6th seed.

They are gonna view that Mo St game as a MUST win... and Nevada as a DESPERATE win.

I don't think they will fall to 7th, but 6th is possible.

They had better view Drake as a must win.

Looking at both WSU and Evilles schedule UNI should be ok for staying out of the play in but if Eville gets somewhat hot they could get to 9-9. Not sure between those two who would hold a tie breaker.

Right now, being 3 full games behind SIU and CU (with CU owning the tiebreaker)
I would have to be happy to end up 3rd in the Valley.
We need to pick up 2 games on MSU and beat UNI here in Peoria.

Here are the present standings

Team..............MVC....All
Southern Ill.....10-3...19-5
Creighton........10-3...16-7
Missouri State...8-5...17-7
Northern Iowa...7-6...16-8

By the way, Wright State absolutely clobbered Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 70-38

I actually could see a 3-way tie of Bradley, UNI, and Wichita St.

I wonder how that tie-breaker would work out... I have a bad feeling we'd get 6th in that deal since we got swept by Mo St and Creighton.

In the Indiana State-UNI game, this was one game where I would have thought Stout and Coleman would have an easy time against one of the weakest frontlines in the MVC. But exactly the opposite appears to have occurred. If anyone saw this game, I would welcome the input.
From the boxscore- Coleman, who averages 13.6/9.5 had only 9/7 , and Stout, who averages 12.7/9.1 had just 5/4. Together they had only 1 assist and 7 turnovers.
UNI guards scored 26 of the 46 points, but they were only 11-28 shooting. UNI shot only 18% on 3-pointers, and got outrebounded 35-19. I doubt they have been outrebounded like that all year.
Indiana State shot well, and Gabe Moore, who had scored under his average for the last 10 games, had a great game with 21 points. And the Indiana State frontline outplayed, outscored, and outrebounded the UNI forwards. Too bad only 3,397 people were there to see it.
I don't understand how this Sycamore team could get beat by Missouri State 2 days ago at home by 29 points. And they had a 7 game losing streak that began when Bradley won there.

I hope Bradley's coaches get a copy of a video from this game. Maybe there is smething to learn about how to defend UNI.

From what was posted over on Valleytalk, UNI couldn't throw a stone in the ocean. It says they shot 42% for the game which isn't terrible (ISU shot 48%), but UNI was 4-22 from three point land.

And I also just saw that ISU outrebounded them 35-19 with UNI only getting 2 second chance points.
