BU v. Iowa Postgame

By the way.........does anyone else thinks this just helps out the Braves in recruiting the state of Texas? I DO! Now let's go out in style and win the tourney!

I'm with ya SFPete on Collins, Salley is great on the D but Ruff and gang just can't get it down low without Collins in there. I havn't seen the minutes for this game yet but Salley played most of the game and only had 2 points, Collins played maybe 10 minutes max and had 6 points on 3 of 5 shooting. I also thought the rebounding was rather porous at times, playing both Collins and Salley would of cured that. Other than that, It was definitely the best game played this season. Turnovers were where they should be, excellent defense and the FG percentage was about the norm. BU's getting better with every game they play. Play like this against MSU or any other good team and we'll do just fine.

And the Missouri Valley's RPI jumped to #3 among all conferences!!!!

Of course! When the Valley beats the Big Ten AND the SEC in the same day, I would expect nothing less! :D

Onto another matter, at the end of the SIU/Miss St game today, the ESPN College Gameday crew was discussing this game. Tom Brennan said that SIU should not be called mid-major anymore after complementing SIU on all aspects of their game. Unfortunately, the same could not be said from fellow analyst Doug Gottlieb. While he agreed with Brennan on everything else, he said that SIU would always be considered a mid-major! Huh?!

I would expect that after five consecutive NCAA appearances, a Sweet 16 and near Elite 8 appearance last year and an undefeated record this year, SIU has more than earned the right to shed the mid-major label. What are you going to do? Gottlieb, who does praise the mid-majors from time to time, still though falls into that trap that the non-BCS teams don't seem to play on the same level as their BCS counterparts do, which of course is bogus. Maybe a Final Four showdown between SIU and Bradley will change his mind! :D

Oh, breaking news: South Dakota St beats Northern Iowa 61-55, thereby offsetting the gains we made earlier tonight! The Valley now falls back to fifth in the latest realtimerpi rankings. Oh well, that was fun while it lasted!

Bradley had a small but loud continent at the game. There were several hundred more Iowa fans, but they couldn't compare to the noise that the Bradley fans made.

What a nice win. After falling behind 15-8, Bradley ran off 19 of the next 21 points and never trailed again. Fantastic game by Ruffin, and a great game by Theron Wilson. Crouch's shot was off a little, but he and all the guards played great defense!

I am headed back to watch the Vanderbilt-Utah State game.:D

By the way, Iowa stayed in that tight zone most of the game, and I though Bradley might have tried to overpass the ball a few times trying to get it inside, when they were able to get wide open looks from 3.

But Iowa was frustrated all night by Bradley's great defense.

We didn't shoot as well from the floor as I'd have hoped, but if you play good defense, that can compensate for a bad shooting night. My computer is practically on life support, and I can't get updates as quickly as in the past, and my audio capacity is extremely limited, so I appreciate everyone's updates and thoughts on this year's team--just wish I could hear some play-by-play!!!

Dont know how much this will help with recruiting in the state of Texas, but I would think that this win could help with the recruitment of a couple of highly ranked forwards who scout has listed BU, Iowa and Iowa State as schools of choice!;)

DC we could hear the BU chant loud and clear on the radio towards the end of the game!!! :)

I actually think Tornado has the best explanation for this. BCS is based on money and big time football two things SIU does not have in comparision to the "high majors". I really dont care what we are called as long as we keep winning.

By the way, I handed out a lot of BradleyFans.com cards to people who were cheering for BU
so maybe there'll be a few new guys signing up tonight ....

You handed one of those to my brother, T. I was there with a few family members (including 4 Bradley grads out of the 5 of us) You were gone before I could introduce myself.

Great win. What a game by Ruff. Iowa kept themselves in the game a few times by throwing up junk 3s after 30+ seconds of suffocating Bradley defense. Wilson had a couple monster putback dunks. Fun to watch.

Well BU Nation was 5 strong at the BW3 in Bolingbrook. No wives agreed to attend since there's an unfortunate trend of them disappearing around those parts...

But all kidding aside fun game to watch and my first impression is how 10 or 15 years ago it would be a super big deal to defeat Iowa...no matter how strong they happened to be that particular year...

But now we were the favorites...and were obviously the more talented and all around BETTER team on the court....and that's with JC (follow him!) having a rough night from the floor. We easily could have won that game by 20. Don't mean to sound arrogant but I think that's the truth...

Can you believe how much quicker the Braves are than the teams from iowa st. and iowa? This sets up a chance to sweep the state of iowa now with the 2 big boys already in the L' column!

Not to rain on anyone's parade and definitely not trying to take anything away from the Braves because they earned the wins flat out, but it is worth noting that both Iowa and Iowa State played Bradley without their best players. Freeman would have made a big difference for Iowa tonight as would Wes Johnson for ISU. Freeman may be the best athlete in Iowa's backcourt and Wes is a freak of an athlete. But as I said, Bradley earned the wins, I just thought it was worth noting that you did not see the full compliment of athletes on either squad.
