15-14 and 9-9....

well the regular season is over and we finish we a record of 15-14 and 9-9.

Hilights were wins against Illinois and Northern Iowa. First time a BU team has ever beaten at ranked team at Carver. of course beating the illini is always a treat.

now we move to the valley tournament as a 5 seed. what do we need to do down there to consider this season a success----if anything?

will 15-15 and 9-9 get us in any post-season play? if not how many wins do we need?

thoughts.

15-15 will get probably get us in either the CBI or CIT if it is still being held this year. 16-15 should definitely do it.

I don't think it is possible for us to get in the NIT, yet it is still possible to get in the NCAA tourny, weird isn't it? 17-15 would not get us in the NIT.

So either we win the whole thing, or we probably go to the CBI. But for me I'd like to see us get 2 wins. At least make the championship, we'd get to see us on CBS and let the nation realize how good we might be next year by seeing we don't lose much. Exposure could be good. We haven't been in the championship game since 06, so it'd be fun to see a team be there the whole way through. One and done or just 1 win would kinda of be ho-hum for me.

This has nothing to do with who is coaching or playing - 15-14 and 9-9 is a bad year to me. Maybe my standards are too high, but those high standards are how I was brought up as a Bradley fan for 20+ years in Peoria. Not acceptable.

But...win the tourney and my tune changes. It changes a lot. I'd love nothing more for it to change...

with the parity we have seen in the valley this season, it wouldn't be a huge surprise to me if we made the NCAA by winning in STL (and it certainly would be awesome). but if not, the CBA/CIT (not really sure how these two work this year) would be alright.

The only thing that would majorly disappoint me would be losing in the first game in STL against Creighton. That is one we can and need to get

I hope the Braves go to StL with a conviction that they can win the tournament.

Conference record:
2002-03: 8-10
2003-04: 7-11
2004-05: 6-12
2005-06: 11-7 (Sweet 16 Year)
2006-07: 10-8 (NIT)
2007-08: 9-9
2008-09: 10-8
2009-10: 9-9

The 2009-10 team could have easily been 12-6 and is capable of winning the conference tournament. Let's use St. Louis to turn this into a successful year.

I agree with you BB. I was hoping for much better.

Bring on St. Louis!

I don't think anyone would or could consider this season a success, including Coach Les. This was a season of disappointment and unfulfilled promises, IMO. Sure, we beat ranked teams and played other good teams close but for every great game there seemed to be two games where the team underachieved. I know some will say we finished where we were projected and picked to finish. But I always thought those predictions were a crock of $4!t -- this should have been a top 3 Valley team...... and the games we won over Illinois and UNI showed that.

The only way this team can be considered a success to me is if we win the Valley Tourney and go to the NCAA Tournament. If we lose in the first round of our tournament I'd just assume this team pack up their bags and go home so I can focus on the "real" basketball that takes place through March. This season has just been too frustrating -- I'm tired. :( JMHO

The thing that hurts the most is we could have had 19 wins and possibly 20 had we just won our home games and beaten a depleted IND.St. team last week, this season has been a huge disappointment as far as wins , sure we can go down to St.Louis and win 3 games but I just do not see a team that has been inconsistent all year then all of a sudden winning 3 in a row, I hope I am wrong but have lost my optimism for BU having any chance at accomplishing this feat.

Dallas... I have always looked at those "this team could have easily been 12-6" scenarios saying that not only those close losses could have been wins but those close wins could have been losses.

I really think we are indeed a 9-9-team. Its natural to look at how we could have been better but really how far were we from being 8-10, 7-11.......

as a follow-up, in the pjstar today is stating that in the 90 league games more than a third were decided by 5 points or less.to do that, many teams have some close games. now i dont know who lost the most close games but i would guess it would be a team with more losses.

The Golf game is a good way to look at it....

How many guys sit around at the 19th hole lamenting those THREE 2 foot putts saying, "man if I had ONLY sank those three easy putts I would have been 17 over :) instead of 20 over.

But they NEVER say...."good thing I hit those THREE great drives becuase had I shanked em like I was most of the day I would have been 20 over instead of 17.

In the end....you were what your scorecard said you were that day. 17 over.

15-14 a disappointing season for me no matter how you cut it-- especially with wins over ranked teams. If we string em together for a change and win in st Louis the season immediately becomes a success.

Considering what I've seen from BU this season - its ups and downs, I don't expect them to turn things around at this point.
I just want a win on Friday. After that, I'm sure I'll say, "All I want is to see them on CBS on Sunday!".
If they win Friday and play UNI close, I'll be pleased. I also want to see DSE and Eastman get good minutes and production, and see WE stay out of foul trouble and grab some boards.

I would be very surprised to see BU on CBS on Sunday, but I want that surprise!
