Belmont has lead nearly the entire game at Evansville, but with 10 minutes left, Evansville is still within striking distance.

Evansville's leading scorer, Connor Turnbull (13.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg), has not played. No explanation for his absence, yet.

In the other game tonight, Northwestern is leading Valparaiso 32-23 late in the 1st half-

Evansville trailed the entire game (except at 0-0), but managed to cut Belmont's lead to 1 point, 77-76 with 38 seconds left. But defensive breakdowns and missed free throws by Evansville gave Belmont a 83-78 win.
Belmont improves to 11-1 overall, and 2-0 in the MVC. Evansville drops to 4-8 overall, and 0-1 in the MVC. Their leading scorer Connor Turnbull did not play.

Valparaiso (6-4, 0-0) is now trailing Northwestern 41-61 with under 12 minutes remaining.

This game started in a completely insane way, with Belmont shooting a technical free throw for an incorrect lineup. Apparently you have to have your lineups locked in 10 minutes before the game and Turnbull was in it at that point. Then when they got to tipoff, Casey swapped in for him and as a result, Evansville started down 1-0 after Lundblade hit the FT.

I know this has happened before but it's such a ridiculous rule. Basketball teams makes constant substitutions. Is someone's game plan going to be completely altered by a late change in the starting lineup? This is like golf where if you touch your club to the sand while not trying to make a shot it's a penalty - pretty frivolous.

Yes, I agree. The rule probably goes back a long way when the official scorekeeper used to have to write the names in the official scorebook, and such an unexpected change in the lineup would cause problems. But it is a rule, and every coach knows it, so there is no excuse.

Any word on what Turnbull’s issue is ?
no official explanation and you'd think their local press would at least ask...but nobody has...
There is discussion on their fan board that he's had some knee issues lately and he's had a heavy wrap/brace on his
left knee the past couple games.
If you stop the video and watch at 1:44:50, you'll see Turnbull's knee brace (hafta have ESPN+)
