The only word on who the other schools are in this tournament is that they will be announced "at a later date". Nothing has been announced yet.

I am in Mexico now and dont see any unressssssssssssttttttttttttttttttttt. Sorry I had to get under my desk for a second.

As long as you do not venture into the wrong places Mexico can be pretty safe. I use to do business down there and I use to pay the cop in font of our building to get me my cab. He would check their license and take down their license plate number just in case anything happened. ;-)

SFP, I have lived in Mexico for 8 years now and I can tell you Mexico City used to be somewhat safe. Things have headed the wrong direction the last year or so and its pretty bad right now............

So slow during the off season that this UMass fan is paying a visit. The MassMutual Center was recently renovated and holds around 6,600. They do sell beer and the Basketball Hall of Fame is a ?? mile away and is very nice. Yes we have struggled and maybe putting too much emphasis on how we do with four new players and a true freshman point guard. A few thousand faithful will show up. It’s early and still waiting on ticket info. However, a poster on the UMassHoops.com says the Sheraton is sold out and made reservations for the Marriot.

Good luck on your season!

Last news item from the Hall of Fame and the MAAC is holding their conference tourament their and hence Rider participation

Thanks for visiting Steve. Please keep us updated.
My niece and her husband went to what was then Western New England U., which is in Springfield.
He was a legend there, Rod Butler, averaged 29pts and 19 boards his senior year
One of the last cuts by the Bulls in 68.
Once again wecome.

Thank you very much Steve81 -- we Bradley fans always appreciate when fans of other clubs visit and fill us in on useful info!

Based on this quote, it seems that the other three teams would have to be in two PODs like Rider. Perhaps the UMass POD is not complete since Sacret Heart's schedule is out and not playing in another POD.

However, the Hall of Fame Tip-Off, which last year was played in the non-conventional round-robin format, just with two five-team tournaments culminating in St. Louis, returns to Springfield, Mass. as an eight-team event. The reconfigured event will work like the Chicago and two Las Vegas events, with two four-team brackets. Bradley, UMass, New Mexico State, and USC will make up the marquee bracket, while Rider and three others will play in the second bracket.

I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to how the prelim pairings occur.

There has been a trend the last couple seasons where not all the lesser teams play the two road games. In fact, in order to secure some of those teams the tournament might have to agree to only send them on the road for one game. And then the remaining teams can all go to a neutral site and play 3 round-robins for their 4 tournament games.

If we lose two home games, how do we replace those teams? Is it possible we play less than a full non-conference schedule this year? :? :? I hope not.

Me too. Not liking this at all.

Sure losing the two home games would stink.

I'm sure an 8th team will be found. However, the format could still allow for 4 games (even if just for a couple participants) but it's getting awful tough the longer this draws out. Worst case scenario with securing an 8th team, you get 3 games-against a field that is pretty decent-and that has advantages over playing an additional home game against an RPI 300 team.

However, if the tournament falls through, BU might be forced to fill out what games it loses with whatever they can get (bad, road or non-DI). And that would be bad.

But I think it will work out. It just won't be what BU was guaranteed.
