The 2012 Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic has started.
Virginia Tech beat Mississippi Valley State tonight 70-49 in the first round-

Virginia Tech will play Georgia Southern on Saturday, Dec. 15, before moving to Las Vegas for the semifinal and final rounds on Sat. Dec 22, and Sunday, Dec. 23.

Bradley plays Georgia Southern on Monday, Dec. 17, and Mississippi Valley State on Wed., Dec. 19

Colorado State plays North Florida on Monday, Dec 17, and CSU Bakersfield on Wed. Dec. 19.

Portland University plays CSU Bakersfield on Monday, Dec 17, and North Florida on Wed., Dec 19.

Virginia Tech's win over Mississippi Valley State is a little deceptive looking at the final score..
V-Tech is 7-1 & undefeated at home and MSVU is 0-6 and playing poorly and VT should have blown MVSU out right from the start but MVSU actually led late into the first half, and was only down 6 at half.
Tech didn't safely have a double digit lead until the final 13 minutes.
We can't take any game lightly.

BTW - they only drew 4900 at Virginia Tech by far their worst home crowd - almost 3000 fewer than their last home game...and one of their worst home crowds in a decade...
