2013 Recruit- SF Alec Peters

After getting offered by St Louis and Boston College, the SLU scout site interviewed him. It was pretty clearly implied that his preference was butler if it became an option.

but BOTH Taphorn & Cohn had publicly said they would aim to decide by end of August or September - and yet days after saying that, both pulled the trigger considerably earlier...

I was under the impression that is was in response to this, given he wrote that moments after it was entered.

@NDkendrick

2013 6-7 SF Alec Peters Washington (IL) picked up an offer from Butler. http://goo.gl/OcINu Would be surprised if he does not commit soon!

----------
He had just spoken with him days before for Rivals.

Of course spots are fleeting and someone could take the spot that Peters was offered for, but if it remains open long enough? Meaning no disrespect to ISU, but that's not something they can win.

Butler gets a verbal from 6'7" Andrew Chrabascz.
He sounds like more of a power forward than Peters.
However speculation on Butler's board is the last scholarship will be held for a point guard.

That is probably right. That offer was never going to have much shelf life. But it probably accomplished one of the ends it was intended.

So you're speculating that they offered Peters to pressure the other kid? Wow. Butler would have been a good fit, actually. BU missed the boat on this kid, no idea how we didn't get on him a year ago--wasn't difficult to see his potential.

No I'm sure he was offered on his own merit. The timing and publicity of the offer was just such that it would be hard for the kid who was offered early July and was visiting that weekend wouldn't be effected. This happens all the time, it's just a really public game of musical chairs

Makes sense. So, the offer would have likely been immediately pulled once the other kid accepted? Butler (the OTHER BU) would be a good fit.

I have heard ISU is "all in with everything they have" on Peters.
They feel like he is the key player to their class.
Peters visited Boston College this past weekend.

He would be a great get for ISU but I hope he goes anywhere but there. ANYWHERE

Alec Peters just finished a visit to ISU - and thus far - I am surprised - there's extremely little said anywhere...nobody commenting on seeing him or watching him scrimmage...
He definitely did not commit, and only a few tweets hint that he had a good visit...just a generic sounding thinks..

Meanwhile some bigger guys are getting involved - Cuonzo Martin & Tennessee coming in for a visit...

He's cancelling his Valpo visit.
Boston College in visiting today.
Illinois State has been unable to close the deal so far, even though the family wants him to play close to home.

He rescheduled his visit to Valpo from last weekend to this weekend.

He has visited BC & ISU officially. This weekend will be his official to Valpo.

All 3 are in very good standing with him. They are doing a very good job of handling his recruitment and seeing where and how he would fit in best.

Has very good support system with his family & Coach Brown at Washington HS.

midstate - I had read that when Butler dismissed Chrishawn Hopkins (one of their best & highest scoring returning players) - they suddenly had an open ride for the next two seasons and were making a bigger push for Alec Peters...
That true??
