2015-2016 Coaching Carousel

It's understandable that ISU fans might be a little unhappy with Muller's teams so far. Muller did not take over a struggling program that needed a complete rebuilding like Coach Wardle did. He took over for Tim Jankovich who was hired away by SMU. Jankovich's teams won 20+ games in 4 of his 5 seasons before he left, and averaged 21 wins over those 5 years, making the NIT 4 of the seasons. So if anything, it could be argued that the team has taken a step back under Muller, or at least has not improved significantly. Plus he has had an incredible amount of roster turnover, undisciplined play, and some questionable losses to inferior teams. Most of all, the writers and fans are tired of being the MVC team with the longest gap since they last appeared in the NCAA (1998 ).
 
the roster turnover, the reliance of a flood of jucos, and the personnel issues & arrests would have been met with constant front page haranguing by Kirk Wessler here in Peoria...
Odd how until now I really have never read even a single negative on Muller in their B-N press. They have given him a 4-year honeymoon up til now despite the stuff like the many arrests & behavior-related suspensions/dismissals (G. Allen, B. Allen, T. Brown, D. Knight, Upshaw, Wilkins, Lofton, Middlebrooks, Brewer, DAP, Griffin, Harvey, Thompson) that would have sunk anyone here prior to 2011.

iThe Trib column is an article lamenting the decline in the number of Black head coaches, and purports to offer a NEW RULE to help bolster the number in Division I...
Maybe their analysis of why the numbers are so low and dropping - ought to start by picking up the phone and calling Drexel, UM-BC, NC A&T, & SUU and asking what the hey is going on and why are they causing the numbers to drop..
I mean, if - as they say - the whole push is to get more minority head coaches and they are even anxious to start putting new rules in place then maybe find out why they are getting fired.

Seriously - if they want a rule that would SLAP A PENALTY on any school that fails to interview a minority candidate, then why not a rule that SLAPS A PENALTY on any school that fires one, or that fires one without checking first with the Chicago Trib - or whomever they put in place who is the Czar on this contrived issue?
(the Trib article kinda hints that we ought to let "The National Association for Coaching Equity and Development" be the "Czar")
 
If a coach isn't getting the job done they are usually fired, no matter who they are. Now if they had a 32-3 record and got fired, then I could see the complaint.

UTSA just fired Brooks Thompson
Saint Louis fired Jim Crews 2 years after he posted 28-7 then 27-7 back to back
....seriously - he was fired even before his team got to the lockerroom after their A-10 Tourney loss!
 
Denver fires Joe Scott

no word for sure, but the firing of Saint Louis' Jim Crews probably means that former Bradley assistant Jim Platt is also likely fired
