Chris Jans, who was just named as an associate head coach at Wichita State is now reported to be one of the finalists for the head coach job at New Mexico State. The other finalists, who were all on campus this weekend for interviews, are: NMSU assistant Jesse Bopp, Oregon assistant coach Tony Stubblefield, TCU assistant coach Ryan Miller, and UCLA assistant David Grace. Their AD, Mario Moccia, who was previously at A at SIU, will make a decision in the next couple days.

The fact that Chris Jans is being considered for another head coaching job this quickly shows that college AD's have a short memory. He was hired by Bowling Green as their head coach 3 years ago, and 1 year later in April, 2015, he was fired when a video surfaced showing him at a bar intoxicated and making advances toward a couple women, including slapping them on the butt. He then became abusive toward another female bar patron who tried telling him that he was embarrassing himself and the BGSU program by being "sloppy drunk" and for hitting-on other women while being a married man. He then called her a bitch. After an extended investigation, Bowling Green fired him for cause and refused to pay him for the remaining 5 years on his contract.

Hopefully Chin Coleman can keep it alive, altho he was already in the coaching business under Tim Miles when hired here..

But Greg Graham - who left here after 2 years under Geno to go to Washington State just got fired

Also, Jaden Uken, who took a job as assistant coach at Fordham after leaving Bradley, was demoted to a non-coaching position last year (Dir. of Basketball Operations).

And Bradley's other assistant coach under Geno, Cole Pittis spent 2015-16 in a low level, non-coaching position at Akron, then this past year he was an assistant coach at East Florida State College, a junior college in Melbourne, FL.

Interesting. Juan Dixon is a product of Towson, MD, just outside Baltimore, and he was a star for the University of Maryland from 1998-2002. He then spent 7 seasons in the NBA and a couple more overseas. He worked in a non-coaching role at Maryland under Mark Turgeon from 2013-2016, then was fired a year ago.
The only previous coaching role he has ever has was this past year as the head coach of the women's team at the University of DC, where he compiled an abysmal 3-25 record. I guess that qualifies him for the head coaching job at Coppin State?

... none of these four seem to much in a hurry to fill their spot..

after a disappointing 3rd straight losing season and 10th place PAC-12 finish, Washington State head coach Ernie Kent fired his two top assistants (scapegoats - so he can claim it wasn't his fault) - and now he's replaced one of them with a local high school coach who has no college coaching experience

the new guy taking over at La Lumiere
is Pat Holmes, who just came to La Lumiere 3 years ago from Florida State, where our assistant Ryan Sharbaugh came from - I'd have to think we at least have a connection...
