2017 NCAA tournament

Wichita State gets screwed with a #10 seed. Looks like the selection committee did not pay any attention to the other metrics and advanced analytics like they claimed they would, and fell back on the RPI when it served their purposes to screw the Shockers.

It's official, ISU left out. And WSU was screwed with a #10 seed.

ISU was the best RPI of any team left out.

Getting a #16 seed and being assigned to the First Four in Dayton may have been a blessing for Jim Les and UC Davis. It gives them a chance to record a win in the NCAA Tournament, and hopefully, they could still advance and play Kansas.
They will play North Carolina Central University, winner of the MEAC Conference and tournament. They are 25-8, and have an RPI of 202.

The talking heads on CBS are all agreeing that Wichita State getting a #10 seed is the biggest screw job by the committee.

nothing surprises me any more... now we can only hope a few of the good midmajors pull some upsets
Wichita ought to beat Dayton, & would love to see FGCU and UC-Davis advance

Non conf.. Schedule

Non conf.. Schedule

Bradley must upgrade and toughen up its non conference schedule. This would raise our RPI, give us better seeding in post season tournaments, help recruiting, and put more butts in the seat for home games. No more cupcakes guys.....If we want to be a top mid-major, we must schedule top opponents.

Wichita did get screwed. The committee else eves they are the 37th-40th best team in the country yet they are ranked 20th in the AP poll...total screw job.

That may be the logical conclusion to draw from this, but I believe the selection committee will still find a way to screw the MVC and other midmajors.
The 2 biggest snubs I see in the announced brackets today are with Wichita State getting an awful #10 seed, when there were some advanced analytics showing them as a Top 10 team! A #10 seed is equivalent to a team ranked around 35-40. Yet they are the #20 ranked team in the AP poll! Their RPI is 32, their BPI is #15, and their Ken Pom ranking is #8!

The other of the 2 biggest snubs was ISU not getting in the field of 68 teams. It is an insult to the MVC.

I have no problem with the seeding. You have to play those higher seeded teams sometime. What I do have a problem is the RPI, strength of schedule. Wiz you mentioned and the talking heads on the selection groups also talk it. I say it is a alot of b***s***t. I agree teams need to upgrade their schedules but what do you do when those schools wont schedule you. The " Power" schools wont play "mid-major" schools because they have nothing to gain and everything to lose. Will Illinois play Bradley...No!!! They made that comment when Bradley beat their butts last time. If a school is lucky they get matched up with a "Power" school when if they are in a December tournament. And when they do they had better win. I think the NCAA needs to mandate somehow the "Power" schools diversify their schedule more. I thought ISU should have gotten in.

The Valley can improve their schedule strength by improving their non conference schedules. Playing the likes of UI-Springfield, Chicago State for example are a joke and hurt the league. Bradley generally has one of the better non conference schedules in the league. Most of the teams play a pathetic non conference schedule. Playing better mid majors would help with the strength of schedules. When Wichita leaves it is only going to get worse. Until the teams in the league improve their schedules and tgemselves we will continue to see what we saw today. I don't think there is a big conspiracy against the Valley.

Jim Les' UC Davis is in the First Four with a chance to play #1 seed Kansas.
look at the crappy seeding they got...
it's not their fault - it's the fault of the weak conference they are in...

Coach Les and all their fans ought to be outraged at the rest of their conference for being so weak and scheduling so poorly...
the bad teams at the bottom of the Big West are dragging down and sabotaging the teams at the top...
UCD ought to look at leaving the Big West and jumping to the AAC or Mountain West to be treated more like the royalty that they are... ;)

Article from CBSSports.com college basketball expert Matt Norlander:
Six seeds the NCAA Tournament committee got wrong: Wichita State got jobbed
http://www.cbssports.com/college-ba...committee-got-wrong-wichita-state-got-jobbed/

He lists 6 teams that the NCAA selection committee missed badly with their seeding, and Wichita State is his prime example-

Wichita State, a 30-4 nightmare of a basketball team that??™s viewed by unbiased oddsmakers as a top-10 squad in college hoops, has been mercilessly jobbed for the second year in a row. The Shockers, ranked eighth in KenPom, 11th in Sagarin are ...
... are you kidding me ...
... a 10 seed.
A top-10 team gets a double-digit seed. What world is this? A flat one, obviously.
