2018 & Beyond recruiting targets

Fantastic get by Illinois State. Abdou Ndiaye, 6-9/200, PF The Nation Christian Academy. Beat out Georgetown, Wichita State, UNLV, and Ole Miss to get him.

That puts ISU at 15 scholarships for next year, and that is assuming Gassman returns to walkon status, and Chastain remains a walkon. Muller must trim 2 more guys. Who will they be? Hein? Romine? Bruninga?

also- one other recruit Bradley was possibly interested...Dmitry Rivny, was a heavy lean towards Alabama (his only offer)..BUT....
suddenly he may be back on the market...as one of Alabama's seniors just got granted a redhsirt and will return in 2018-19,
thus using their final scholarships.

It??™s worth noting that, although Alabama is at capacity before a possibly Rivny commitment, one of their players is Avery Johnson Jr., son of head coach Avery Johnson. So he could potentially come off of a basketball scholarship in order to make space for Rivney while still staying on the roster using his fathers benefits.

Eastern Florida's Ahmed Ali ...
if you blow this map up of the coaches who were there - you'll see that they have the Bradley coaches noted......

Ahmed Ali has now decommitted from Kent State and is reopening his recruitment...don't know how involved we were but the guy is a great shooter
...another one time target from the list above, Robert Harvey just committed to DII
..and another, Kaleb Thornton will reclassify to 2019 & spend a year at prep school

... as soon as Tennessee State's head coach Dana Ford leaves to take the Missouri State job,
their top commit Chicago Curie's Tyree Martin decommits - Bradley was at one time recruiting him - ....

strange- Tyree Martin decommits from a DI scholarship and then heads to DII Missouri Western...

There were rumors of academic shortcomings well before Martin committed to Tennessee State. That was probably why there were so few schools recruiting him. I doubt it is because Ford left. The school would surely give him a release if that was the reason, or he'd go to a juco or prep school.

not much news on recruits but I removed a few names who committed elsewhere
...still hoping we can land one more difference-maker

2018 (four open scholarships - two still remain open - one was taken by Brummett, one by Bile & another possibly taken by Boya)

Armon Brummett - COMMITTED on 1/23/2018 - here was the earliest mention of him - Armon Brummett
Chudier Bile COMMITTED on 4/17/18 - athletic juco forward with two years remaining
Aristide Boya - already COMMITTED - maybe will reclassify as 2018 (see under 2019)

...uncommitted but still reportedly with Bradley offers...
Damien Baugh - Memphis PG OFFERED
Emmanuel Umoffia - OFFERED 12/13/17

interest only but we have not offered....probably most of these are not likely, leaning DII or already off the board/not going to be offered...
Jarred Godfrey
Daishaun Woods, Angus Glover, Bailey Dee - just visited Bradley on 8/9/2016, Tim Carter, Tyreese Davis,
Ja'Shon Henry, Michael Wykoff, Shaun Williams, D. Rivny, Marcel Haskett

Mohamed Thiam has committed to New Mexico State. I wouldn??™t be surprised to learn our academic standards were difficult for him to meet. He is a very talented player who would have fit our team needs, but does not seem to have been perused that hard. He would fit on almost any team at the mid major or power conference level.

we have seen a lot of academically challenged kids who can't get into anywhere else like Johnathon Wilkins & Zach Lofton - always seem to end up at New Mexico State....
and the paucity of offers for these last two guys (Aurrecoechea & Thiam) suggests their academics prevented them from going anywhere else...

Been real quiet on the recruiting front. Assuming that Boya does graduate this year and he uses the 3rd scholarship is it possible we hold onto that 4th scholarship for the following year or do we use it for Pete Hanley and his senior year.

One of the top remaining available juco shooters Ahmed Ali of Eastern Florida State College decommitted from Kent State, spurned numerous good mid-major offers, and just committed to perennial Pac-12 bottom dweller Washington State.

Hope he gets more playing time there than former Bradley Brave Davante Cooper got last year. He only appeared in 19 of 31 games, averaged under 6 min. per game, 1.3 ppg & 1.2 rpg, and shot 27% on Free Throws playing almost exclusively in garbage time.

So far, we have had names and info about every Bradley recruit well before anyone else reported them anywhere. That shows that our info and sources are pretty good. So I wanted to post some early info about another potential recruit.
This post was updated 4/30/18 with further info about this recruit.

There is a recruit for 2018 that is a bit atypical & way under the radar. I cannot find any recruiting site that even has his name in their database.
His name is Dmitry Rivny (sometimes spelled Ryuny)-
http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/dmitry-ryuny

He is a 6'8" skilled forward who is an outstanding shooter. He is a foreign kid who moved to the US and played his senior season at a tiny high school and went virtually unnoticed. But he recently played in a spring exposure event and things changed. Most of the coaches who attended the event were scouting players from 2019 & 2020, but this kid reportedly stood out. Our coaches have made contact, and we'll see what develops.
He recently played in a showcase event, and opened some eyes with his performance, especially his shooting-

2018 Dmitry Rivny (Ryuny), a small school kid who was virtually unnoticed until suddenly getting attention after playing in a spring showcase event, and who Bradley was contacting, just committed to University of San Francisco.

What Is Likely?

What Is Likely?

Now that the NLI period is ended, what is likely to happen to the one or two scholarships we have open, depending upon Boya? Will we just play with one or two less players or one or two less scholarship players?

we'll have to wait & see
could take a late transfer - we didn't even know about McGlaston until late April last year

Luuk van Bree didn't commit until May 12, Scottie James on May 17, and Callum Barker June 13 - so maybe someone will still be added...
there still may be other transfers too...

There is still a good chance one scholarship will be taken by Ari Boya.
And I think the coaches will still add another player as well.

A 2018 name to note-

Riley Grigsby- 6'6" forward from Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California. He's an uncommitted senior who has a couple midmajor offers (North Dakota & Presbyterian). He is a strong physical kid who is projected to have a high upside, and is said to be "One of top unsigned seniors on west coast". He was on an official visit to Oregon State last weekend, and he has also visited St. Mary's on an official visit. He played in a spring showcase event for unsigned seniors in Northern California three weeks ago, and drew a lot of attention for his outstanding play.
