The coaches are still aggressively recruiting.
We are learning about a few more names for 2018 and 2019.

Here is one-
2018 junior college recruit- Kawanise Wilkins- 6'5" wing guard from Barton County CC in Great Bend, Kansas.
Barton is 25-5 on the season, and 21-5 in the Jayhawk Conference. They average 85 ppg, and are 2nd in the conference-
http://www.kjccc.org/sports/mbkb/2017-18/standings-include

He is listed as a freshman, and is a qualifier, so he would have 3 years to play at D1. He was a 2017 graduate of Farragut Academy in Chicago. He averages a team-leading 14.9 ppg, and a team leading 9.3 rpg, and he shoots 36.5% from three.

At this stage can Bradley afford to gamble on a Euro recruit? He did look to be an interesting recruit and a good project but does he fit our needs for next year

he looks like the kind of player who could replace Donte's production...

but as I look over all the All MVC guys, I am struck by how many were kind of unknowns before they got the the MVC - Alize Johnson, Timmer, Fayne, Pippen..

some of the preseason picks the last couple years fizzled out -

I think we do need an effective "5" in this year's recruiting class. Can anyone say they are satisfied with the production and play of the only two 5's on the roster, Bar & Barker? We have had to play a small lineup out of necessity much of the time.
Fortunately, the most of the other teams in the MVC don't have dominating 5's either, and nearly all the 5's in the MVC were the under-the-radar types or the kids who were not highly recruited nor expected to contribute right away.
Here is a list of all the MVC players who are described on their team's roster as centers-
Kavion Pippin (SIU)
Cameron Krutwig (LU)
Derrick Smits (VU)
Jaume Sorolla (VU)
David N'Diaye (ILSU)
Koch Bar (BU)
Brandon Murphy (INSU)
Emondre Rickman (INSU)
Daniel Huenermann (INSU)
Dalen Traore (UE)
Dainius Chatkevicius (UE)
Tanveer Bhullar (MSU)
Justin Dahl (UNI)
Ted Friedman (UNI).
Thik Bol (SIU), who was the only post player picked on the MVC Preseason All Conference teams (2nd team), though injuries kept him from playing this season.

Note that 8 of the 15 centers listed are foreign players, 4 are juco transfers, 2 transferred from other 4-year schools (Bhullar, Rickman), and 3 of them almost never get off the bench (Dahl, Friedman, Huenermann).
The only 2 post players recruited the traditional way from high schools and who are contributing significantly are Krutwig and Smits.

So it's not as if other schools are having an easy time landing solid centers who can play in the MVC. I am all for trying to recruit another 5 player if our coaches think they help this team.

The bigger schools pretty much gobble up all the immediate impact big kids and all the decent juco 5's. So probably the only way we can address that weakness is to sign an under-the-radar big like some of the ones we've seen listed in this thread.

At this stage can Bradley afford to gamble on a Euro recruit? He did look to be an interesting recruit and a good project but does he fit our needs for next year

The question of fit is very big. The one video I saw he has great athleticism and showed solid handles/shooting for a big, albeit against very token defense. Imo the biggest need we have is for a tweener forward, a bigger wing who can start at the 3 and play minutes at the 4. But Edu could also work if he can slide his feet well enough to guard some more perimeter based players. He??™d play center when he was out there with Childs, then take minutes as a PF when he plays with Bar and eventually Boya. But I haven??™t seen anything suggesting he can do that right away. Plus, keeping in mind that we have Boya coming sometime in the next two recruiting classes, if he can??™t defend in space at all we??™d have a redundancy of bigs that can only play one position. Most teams play with 4 shooters and a lot play with 4 guys who can comfortably take their guy off the dribble. Too many bigs is a problem. I??™m sure the coaches have all of this taken into consideration and if Edu wants to come and is the best option, I will trust Wardle. He??™s earned that. But Edu doesn??™t look to be a perfect fit from the skills I??™ve seen online.

sparsely recruited Morgan Park HS senior Cam Burrell (6-6 forward)
kind of opened a few eyes last night in Morgan Park's Regional win over Evergreen Park HS 90-58.

He went for 44 points, 23 rebounds and 5 blocks...
Ayo Dosunmu had 16 pts, 15 assists,
Burrell's only offer is Chicago State

It is possible grades are what's holding back his recruitment - Cam's older brother Melo Burrell ended up going juco at John A Logan

In IL Regional play, Chicago Orr beat Uplift 75-66 in OT
as Orr's Brian Hernandez hit SEVEN three-pointers to lead Orr's scoring with 21 pts...
For Orr: Danny Smith 14, Raekwon Drake 13, Tyronn Mosley 11, Chase Adams 10.
For Uplift: Markese Jacobs 23, Detalian Brown 18.

Brian Hernandez is uncommitted...he is only 5-11 but he has hit about 50% from 3-pt each of the past two seasons

a report from Michael Moreno's (2019 recruit) regional game tonight...
HALFTIME SCORE: Scott County 80 - Madison 22

reports says Moreno has 29 pts at half but might not play in 2nd half

Now that our season is (in all likelihood) over, I??™d love to hear a commitment from a difference making juco forward pretty quickly. I know they are top targets for big schools too, but if we got either Mohamed Thiam or Marlon Taylor I??™d be ecstatic.

Here's the list of recruits we have compiled and the ones we've offered are noted in red....

Our primary recruiting concerns, based on who we've offered, are likely....
-strong, athletic forward to replace Donte Thomas
-scoring guard
-backup PG
-3-pt shooting
