2022 Coaching turnover

Manhattan Kansas newspaper is reporting that Bruce Weber has resigned as head coach at K-State.

Kansas State hires Baylor assistant Jerome Tang
https://www.wibw.com/2022/03/21/its-official-k-state-names-jerome-tang-new-mens-basketball-coach/

Tang has been an assistant at Baylor for 19 years. Prior to that he was a high school head coach at Heritage Christian Academy in Cleveland, Texas.
But for never being a full time head coach at the college level, Tang gets a 6-year deal worth $14.1 million.

I'm curious if a bunch of players leave and Murray State then isn't the favorite to win the Valley next year, now.

It could happen. Murray State's top two players (KJ Williams & Tevin Brown) would be highly coveted by Power Conference schools.
And with no penalty for transferring, they might even be interested in following their coach to the SEC. Both are from hometowns that are closer to Baton Rouge than to Murray Kentucky. And one of their other starters is from New Orleans.

Milwaukee hires a successful D2 coach Bart Lundy-

The new head coach at Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Bart Lundy, has been the head coach at a Division II school (Queens University) in Charlotte, North Carolina for the past 9 years. He was an assistant under Buzz Williams at Marquette from 2009-2012. Other than those three seasons, he doesn't appear to have any recent connections to the Milwaukee area. So he will be looking to fill out his staff with assistants who are familiar with recruiting the area.
Could one of Bradley's assistants be a possibility?

Former Illinois State head coach Tim Jankovich retires at SMU.

His record at SMU
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb...nkovich-1.html

Jankovich is just 62 years old. In 7 seasons at SMU, he made the NCAA Tournament once in his first full season after taking over for Larry Brown. losing in the first round. His 2021-22 team finished 24-9, 13-4 in the AAC, and in 2nd place. But they failed to get an NCAA bid mainly due to a horrible non-conference SOS (224), something he was well known for at ISU. They lost in the 2nd round of the NIT.

Mizzou makes it official, hiring Dennis Gates of Cleveland State

I find that surprising. The Horizon is one of the lowest ranked conferences in men's basketball and just looking at recent history, it seems like Wright St. has had better success overall over the last few years.

That's not to say that great coaches can't come from weak conferences or even lower division basketball. Just surprised by the choice.

Luke warm reception by the fan base would be a pretty fair statement. He was at Florida as an assistant and involved in some of their big recruiting successes while there.

Murray State brings back Steve Prohm to replace Matt McMahon who was hired by LSU:

Prohm was extremely successful at Murray State averaging over 25 wins per season in the 4 years he was there and winning the OVC all 4 years.
At Iowa State, he went to the NCAA 3 of his first 4 seasons, then went downhill quickly, winning just 12 games his 5th year and just 2 games his 6th year before departing.
