2024 Commitment..PG JaQuan Johnson...

Kid scored 29 pts in last 14 min. of the game. 1st half he was dishin' well. He can light it up! Imagine Duke coming back next season with this guy on the same court.

From watching his videos, a couple observations... he will need to make a few adjustments to the different and much faster style of play in D1. If you watch him bring the ball up the court, he dribbles the ball too high, and needs to get into more of a crouch and keep his dribble lower. He sees the court well, passes well, and is not a bad perimeter shooter, though he gets the bulk of his points on drives into the lane and short jumpers. Those dribble-drive points don't come nearly as easily in D1, so he'll have to work more on creating shots away from the basket. And as all high school recruits do, he will need to work harder to improve his defense. But I like that he has a scorer's mentality, and he is very athletic and already has a D1 body, so IMO he will be able to make these adjustments.

And despite handling the ball around 95% of the time on offense, he is averaging just 2.5 turnovers per game

Keep the Milwaukee pipeline running! Hannah, Burch and now Johnson!

Jaquan Johnson had 26 points tonight in his team's loss to Pewaukee. Pewaukee is one of the best teams in the state, and is lead by a guard who is a Nebraska commit (Nick Janowski, 41 points).

here's the full game video of that game last night- if you watch any at all, you see that unfortunately
Jaquan is on a team that doesn't really have any size or other scorers..Pewaukee has a lot of athleticism and
talent. yet Pius stayed within 10-12 most of the game, but the lead ballooned to 20 during garbage time.

That will change when he gets to Bradley. Playing with better players makes you better

of the 7 or 8 Pius players who either start for Pius or who play the most- you notice that Jaquan (#22), at 5-10 is roughly the same
height or taller than all his other teammates except #15, who appear to be maybe 1 inch taller.& #21 who is maybe 2 inches taller.

Also notable is that in Wisconsin, varsity basketball is played in TWO 18 minute halves! JV games are 16 min halves.

"All varsity games will be played in two 18 minute halves."

Another good game for Jaquan Johnson last night. Pope Pius XI beat West Allis Central 80-56. Johnson had a game-high 30 points.

here's the full game video of Saturday's game where Pius won at West Allis 80-59
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEdIVjdC8HQ

Jaquan had 19 1st half points (3-4 from 3pt range) to give Pius a 36-24 lead.
He is #22 in black. West Allis is a much bigger team and most of Jaquan's teammates are not great shooters, but he does a very good job "setting the table" for them and handing out assists...and when they did go on a run midway in the 2nd half and hit a couple 3-pointers in a row- they pulled out to a 15-20 pt lead and coasted the rest of the way. Their biggest lead was 29 pts (77-48 )

Jaquan Johnson had another good game tonight as Pope Pius XI beat Brookfield Academy 115-82.
Not a lot of defense played.
Johnson had 30 points and a bunch of assists as his teammate Julian Alvarez Robles had 14 three pointers and a career-high 44 points.

Jaquan Johnson had 26 points in last night's game. That drops his season average to 32.3 points per game
He is also averaging 7.6 rebounds and 8.6 assists.

Pretty concerning plummet in average. Are we sure he’s a good fit considering how low his ppg has dropped?
