2024 Transfer Portal news

UIC loses a couple more players to the portal. There were a flurry of transfers that happened right after they fired Luke Yaklich.
Now they have hired Rob Ehsan, and today, promising sophomore 6'4" guard Steven Clay entered the portal - Stats- https://verbalcommits.com/players/steven-clay

Bradley recruited Clay in high school at Menomonee Falls High School, near Milwaukee.

Also, 6'6" freshman Nathan Ojukwu of UIC entered the portal today.

UIC gets a commitment from a portal transfer from Niagara, Ahmad Henderson.
He is a 5'9" freshman guard who is originally from Chicago Brother Rice HS.

He was a starter who averaged 11.2 ppg and 1.9 apg as a freshman. He shot 29.5% from three.

He is the 4th portal transfer to land in the MVC.

UIC also gains a player under new head coach Robert Ehsan- 6'4" senior guard Joshua Reaves commits to UIC. He started all 32 games and averaged 8.8 ppg this past season at Mount St. Mary's.

Looks like his could have 2 years of eligibility if he gets a redshirt year for 2022-23 when he played in only 3 games, plus his Covid year.

Wouldn't surprise me. They won 3 conference games and only 8 wins overall this year.

This may not be official, and I don't know how many players they had, but Verbalcommits shows 11 Louisville players in the Transfer Portal.
Schools like Louisville that had a coaching change have been hit especially hard.

Valparaiso lands a commitment from a portal transfer- Devon Ellis is a 6'6" sophomore shooting guard at University of Maryland-Eastern Shore. He is originally from Chicago, but attended Link Year Prep in Branson, Missouri. He then attended State Fair Community College in Missouri for one year (13.3 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 44.2% from three) before transferring and playing the 2023-24 season at UMES. This past season he averaged 11.6 ppg and 4.4 rpg, and he shot 49.8% overall, and 25.0% from three. He has 2 seasons of eligibility left.

Why this guy was allowed to still coach I will never understand. After 2013 he should have been disgraced and never to return.

Callie is a junior from Sparta, Wisconsin, and is one of Andrea Gorski's recruits who stayed to play the last 2 seasons for Coach Popovec. She played in 30 of the team's 32 games this year, and averaged 10.7 mpg, 2.3 ppg, and 2.3 rpg. Good luck Callie!
