2024 Transfer Portal news

That's crazy! I knew football was pulling in that kind of cash, but didn't realize basketball was, as well. Especially considering that Avila is not considered a 5 star recruit (or is he?).

I'd say he essentially would be valued as a 5* recruit now. He put up some very impressive numbers this season including 20+ pt games against Utah & Cinci in the NIT. He averaged 17/6/4a this year. Very hard to find a player like that normally.

MVC Transfer Portal commits as of 4/10/2024-
3/27 Max Weisbrod (N. Michigan)- to UNI
3/28 Brody Peebles (Liberty)- to Belmont
3/29 Carter Whitt (Furman)- to Belmont
4/1 Ahmad Henderson II (Niagara)- to UIC
4/2 Joshua Reaves (Mount St. Mary's)- to UIC
4/3 Devon Ellis (Maryland-Eastern Shore)- to Valparaiso
4/5 Connor Dillon (Winona State)- to Bradley
4/5 Tayshawn Comer (Eastern Kentucky)- to Evansville
4/9 Zek Montgomery (Rhode Island)- to Bradley
4/10 Boden Skunberg (North Dakota State)- to Illinois State
4/13 Terence Harcum (Appalachian State)- to Murray State

I think Ind St is in a desperate place right now,no coach,no athletic director,no president but I hope they don't think about hiring Huggins as there coach.I personally have never liked the guy.The valley can do better than that with coaches.

A new name for the Fan Transfer Portal-
LittleBrave

His NIL value is assessed at $0.01
:)

Wow - I wish I had an agent, or BraveSince09, to help me with my approach!

BUT...I am now announcing this...I am OUT of the fan transfer portal (pending DC's blessing) with my incredibly low assessed fan value, and like Zek, I'm BAAAAA-AAAAACK!!!
Love u guys!

We have been notified that LittleBrave has withdrawn from the Fan Transfer Portal and has expressed a desire to return to Bradley Fandom.
That is a disappointment to Illinois State who targeted LittleBrave for an NIL package of $0.02, which was well over his estimated NIL value.
The NCAA has launched an investigation into Illinois State's apparent blatant recruiting violation.

For now, the rest of the Bradley Fandom will be meeting to consider whether to take LittleBrave back.

North Dakota State's Boden Skunberg, a 6-5, 210-pounder who averaged 14.1 points and 5.4 rebounds last season, is transferring to Illinois State.

Thanks for posting. Illinois State lands their first portal transfer of 2024.
Boden Skunberg is a 6'5" senior guard from Jamestown, ND. He has played 4 seasons at North Dakota State U. He was the Gatorade Player of the Year in North Dakota in 2020. He committed to North Dakota State early in his junior year of high school. He didn't play much his freshman season at NDSU, appearing in only 19 games, averaging 11.9 minutes, and 1.7 ppg. His sophomore year, as a part-time starter, he averaged 5.9 ppg. His junior year, as a starter in 28 of 32 games, he averaged 15.1 ppg. This past year as a senior, he averaged 34.0 minutes per game, and 14.1 ppg. He shot 35.5% from three for his career. He has 1 year of eligibility left for his Covid year.

LittleBrave is accepted back by a unanimous vote!

A familiar name in the portal today- James "Pop" Weathers, who played 2 seasons at State College of Florida, then a year at Bradley, and a year at Texas A&M Commerce. He didn't have much success this past season at Texas A&M-Commerce, playing 15.7 minutes per game and averaging 2.2 ppg. He shot just 22.9% overall and 19.6% from three. - https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/5107964/james-weathers
He has one season of eligibility left for his Covid year. For a kid who had success in his 2 years at the juco (19.5 ppg his freshman year and 18.2 ppg his sophomore year), he has struggled at the D1 level.
D1 stats- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/5107964/james-weathers
I hope he has a good year wherever he lands.

I want to thank God, JC, and DC (Da Coach) for allowing me the chance to make my return to Bradleyfans.com. I feel this place gives me the best opportunity to succeed. I hope that my assessed worth increases (from 1 penny) with much support from my BU fan-mates.

I am truly a blessed man today as I stand in the presence of my fellow Braves and look forward to what lies ahead!
ZEK - let's DO this!!!

Here's an interesting name in the portal...

Bruce Zhang, the 7-footer who Bradley aggressively recruited a year ago, but who landed at Saint Louis.
https://twitter.com/VerbalCommits/status/1778495234139435363

His numbers were small but he did play some key minutes in 30 games and looked good at times, and has potential.
Gotta wonder if Coach Wardle is still interested.

-

Likewise Bryant Selebangue is also in the portal - another big man that Bradley aggressively recruited but he went to Tulsa, then
Arizona State. At Tulsa he averaged 12 ppg & 9.2 rpg, hitting 62% of his shots

Zhang's numbers were not good this past season at St. Louis, but he does have skills and a potential upside that could help a mid-major like Bradley. Recall that when he visited Bradley (he sat a few rows in front of me at the exhibition game vs. Illinois Wesleyan on Nov. 2, 2022), he told our coaches he would commit. But after he left Bradley, he visited St, Louis and committed there.
2023-24 Stats- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/5174641/bruce-zhang

Bryant Selebangue had great numbers at Tulsa his junior year (12 ppg and 9.2 rpg), but for some reason, didn't play so much at Arizona State this past season and only averaged 4.8 ppg and 4.1 rpg. He was at 2 different junior colleges in 2020-21 and 2021-22, and 2 different Universities for 2022-23 and 2023-24. So are there other issues that explain why he transfers every year?
D1 Stats- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/5106643/bryant-selebangue

And there is another big kid who entered the portal today that Bradley knows. Zane Meeks was recruited by Bradley at Brewster Academy prep school in 2019. He ended up committing to Nevada and played 2 years there one of which was limited due to injuries. Then he played 2 years at San Francisco and put up decent numbers. This past year, he played at Arizona State with Selebangue, but played in only 5 games. So he has 1 season of eligibility left.
Stats- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4593064/zane-meeks

I suspect the coaching staff is in contact with all 3 of these transfers.

One more name to ponder
Rienk Mast has yet to decide if he will return to Nebraska. Speculation that he may transfer again or play pro in Europe.
Would he consider returning to BU?

.

Unfortunately I think this is the new norm. We are going to see many kids go to 2, 3, 4 colleges during their careers

I wish we would go after 3 transfer players instead of just one after what happened last season with 2 quitting and 3 to 4 on our bench rarely playing at all during games.
