Maybe we can get him when he transfers out of the Big Ten like Cellus did?
Anyway maybe he can get instant playing time there. Rutgers finished 10th in the Big Ten,
and I doubt they'd be expected by anyone to compete for the title next year.
They have only gone to the NCAA twice since 1991, losing in the First Four in 2022.
They've also had only one player drafted by the NBA since 2006 when POB was drafted.

I'm sure he has his reasons for going there. I find it hard to understand though. If you can't go to a respectable P5 program, for instance, any of the winning basketball programs in the BIG that are perennial tournament teams, why not choose a good/great Mid major team?

Idk, I'm just a 37 yr old dude living in a corn field in IL so I don't know much.

Congratulations to Lathan. It would have been nice if he chose a closer school so his parents could see him in person more often, but they will be able to see many of his Big Ten games played at Iowa, Illinois, Northwestern, Wisconsin, etc.

I figured we were a long shot for Lathan. Best of luck young man. I'll be a fan just by association of who his father is and what he has done for this community, during his playing days and currently.

As of now, there are no open scholarships. But that could always change.
Here is more about Jarrett Hensley, who just entered the transfer portal yesterday...
He is from U. of Cincinnati. He is a 6'8" junior forward originally from Leavenworth High School (Kansas), and he did a prep year at Link Prep in Branson, MO, where he was rated as a top 150 recruit. He spent one season at North Carolina-Greensboro where he didn't play much and averaged only 1.8 ppg. He transferred to Cincinnati when his coach at UNCG, Wes Miller, took the Cincinnati coaching job, and played the last 2 seasons there, averaging 1.5 ppg in 2021-22 and 2.0 ppg in 2022-23. His 3-point percentage in his 3 college seasons has never been better than 18%. He would only have 1 more season of eligibility left.

I don't quite understand why a player who has never averaged more than 2 ppg, 1.3 rpg, or shot better than 18% from three in 3 years of D1 play has so many good mid-major programs pursuing him. Can anyone explain? Anyway, I have to think that with the signing of Atlason, Thomas, Pettigrew, and Ellis, and the fact there are no open scholarships, that Bradley's interest would be minimal.

Right, and he'll be playing for a long time family friend who will have his best interests at heart. Actually, his parents should be able to see nearly every game with the exception of Rutgers home games and games at Penn State and Maryland. Rutgers will have one of the best recruiting classes in the country so it makes sense for Sommerville to challenge himself at the Big 10 level now knowing he can always count home to Bradley if he ever wants to. I wish him good luck.

This is a big recruiting weekend, and our staff is evaluating recruits. There are a number of big showcase events going on this weekend.
We'll try to get some of the 2024 and 2025 names that they are recruiting-

2024 Trent Noah- 6'7" shooting guard/small forward from Harlan County HS in Baxter, Kentucky. He's playing this spring/summer with Midwest Basketball Club (Adidas affiliated program in southern Ohio).

2024 Caden Wilkins- 6'7" wing from Bettendorf (IA) High School. One of the top players in Iowa. He is playing with the Iowa Barnstormers out of the Quad Cities, the same AAU program Emarion Ellis played with.

Honestly, until the portal issues iron themselves out (if ever), I'd much rather see us picking up upperclassmen than bringing in high school kids that are likely to give us one good season before moving on to greener pastures if they have any success at all.

A few more recruit names scouted at the Adidas 3SSB Circuit in Council Bluffs, Iowa-

He averaged 20.7 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 6 apg, and 4.3 steals per game his senior year.

2023 Caylon Davis- 6'1" senior guard from Mansfield Summit High School (Dallas, Tx). He missed most of the last 2 years and has fallen through the cracks. But this spring he has apparently been dominant in some showcase events.

Another portal player Bradley is recruiting-
Tevin Smith- he is a sophomore at the University of Denver, and is now in the portal. Bradley recruited him and reported offered him 2 years ago when he was at Danville (IL) High School. He has been mostly a starter at Denver since he arrived. He averaged 10.4 ppg as a freshman, and this season he averaged 10.0 ppg, which was 2nd highest on the team.
