The 2025-26 high school boys basketball season in Ohio is less than one month away,
and area teams will be taking it up a notch.

Friday marked the first day of official practice for the upcoming OHSAA campaign,
with the regular season scheduled to start Nov. 26.

Here is a look at some of the top returning players to watch this season.

Race Kowalczyk, St. John’s Jesuit

A 6-foot-7 senior guard/forward who is verbally committed to Bradley University in Illinois,
Kowalczyk averaged 17.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game last season for St. John’s.
He shot 51 percent from inside the arc, 40 percent from 3-point range, and 80 percent from the free-throw line.

Kowalczyk, the son of University of Toledo men’s basketball coach Tod Kowalczyk, earned first-team honors in
the Catholic High School League and the Northwest District in Division II. He was also a second-team All-Ohioan.

As I continued to read more about our incoming freshman Race K., I see how his connection to Bradley Coach Wardle as part of most of his life, helped him make his decision to play at Bradley! If he has a standout year, will he have any loyalty in today's NIL world? There has to be a few outliers with high Character that are not just in this for the Money! Time will Tell! It appears as a 3 star Freshman, he could have an immediate impact on next year's team! I hope coach Wardle gives him good minutes!

Bradley commit RACE KOWALCZYK will play in the Ohio vs Kenticky High School All Star Game
Race Kowalczyk did not play in the Ohio-Kentucky High School All Star Game. Kenticky ended up beating the Ohio All Stars,
and there was no mention of why Race, who was listed on the roster, did not play.

HOWEVER.... Tomorrow (Sunday) is the Ohio/Indiana "Border Wars Classic" High School All Star Game, and Race is scheduled to play.
The game is at 4pm local (3pm Central Time) in Ft. Wayne, IN.

This article says a live stream will be available but there does not appea to be a link posted yet- https://www.crescent-news.com/push/...cle_2912bc04-ee26-4017-9175-bf58eb8a106e.html

Before the Ohio/Kentucky game they did say he was injured and would not play. When he walked to the court he looked like he was limping a little. Looked like maybe a sprained ankle

Race with 21 points
wild game - a lot of made 3's and one of the athletic Ohio guys missed 5 or 6 dunks!
