3 MVC games Saturday, Feb. 22

Missouri State beats Loyola 74-62

MSU jumped out to a big lead early and lead by 17 at halftime. They maintained the double-digit lead almost the entire 2nd half and handled Loyola surprisingly easily. The MSU big men were able to neutralize Loyola's Cameron Krutwig, and he fouled out with 11 points and 5 rebounds. And as I have opined before, the rest of the Loyola team are not good enough to carry the team without their star. This opens the door for Bradley to make a move and tie for 2nd place with a win today.

Missouri State was motivated from the get go (Could that have been because of the result from their last game? Hmm). Scored the first 9 points and never looked back as they beat Loyola 74-62. The Ramblers never got it closer than 8 as the Bears were in control the whole way. MSU was 24-58 from the field, 7-21 from 3, and 19-26 from the FT line while Loyola shot 20-40, 4-11 from 3 and were 18-30 from the FT line. MSU dominated the boards by a 35-26 margin, 11-3 on the offensive glass and forced 17 turnovers. With a win at Valpo we at least can be in a tie for 2nd with a chance for a 4 way tie for 1st if SIU wins at UNI on Sunday.
