3 MVC games Tuesday, Jan. 10

Agree... Murray State, like Bradley, has not played nearly as well in road games as home games. They are 5-1 at home, and just 2-5 in true road games.
UNI is playing better than earlier this season when Bradley clobbered them. They have won their last 3 games, 2 of them on the road against ILSU and Valpo, and at home against SIU. But overall, they are just 5-4 in home games this season. UNI is a 3.5 point favorite.

The other 2 games tonight will be interesting. Can Valpo (0-6) and UIC (1-5) get back on track following their poor start in the first 6 MVC games? Belmont is a 5 point favorite at Valpo and Drake is an 11 point favorite at UIC. All 3 games are on ESPN+.

Yes, they are relatively young, and have no seniors. But, they are not as young as their roster appears to show. Remember, unlike Bradley, UNI lists their roster players one class younger than they really are because they assume all will take the extra Covid year. For example, Bowen Born, Nate Heise, and Tytan Anderson are listed as sophomores, but academically, they are all juniors who are in the 3rd season playing at UNI.James Betz is listed as a junior, but this is actually his 4th season.
Also, UNI tends to redshirt a lot of their freshmen players, so players like Michael Duax and Landon Wolf are listed as freshman, but they are in the 2nd year and probably should be listed as redshirt-freshmen. Cole Henry and Derek Krogman also redshirted as freshmen.

Northern Iowa has been unpredictable this year. Some bad losses and close shave wins (@ Valpo), then a huge win against SIU. I see a home win for NI tonight. As coach said, Murray not so hot on the road.
 
I thought Valparaiso might put together a good game and stay with Belmont tonight. But I was wrong. Belmont has opened a 15 point lead midway through the 2nd half and is slowly pulling away. Valpo Head Coach Matt Lottich is signed through 2024-25, but there are already fans calling for a change. Those calls will only get louder with repeated poor games at home like this.

UIC is shooting well (15-28, 54% ) and looking good. They lead Drake 35-30 at the end of the 1st half at UIC-

And UNI is having a pathetic 1st half at home so far, against Murray State. UNI is shooting only 6-26 (31%) and getting outrebounded 21-14 by Murray State, who lead 24-17 with 3:30 left in the 1st half. Still plenty of time for UNI to get their game going.

Edit: UNI did hit 4 of their last 5 to finish the first half on a 11-3 run and take a 28-27 halftime lead over Murray State.
 
Northern Iowa huge comeback to beat Murray (Lou Grant disappointed). Drake and UIC in OT right now! Murray had a 9 point lead late in the game, big run by NI to win by 8 at home.
 
Drake 76-71 over UIC in overtime. 60% of the 400 fans in attendance at UIC were Drake fans. Gonna be hard to beat Northern Iowa on the road. They went on a 24-7 spurt to end the game. Dangerous team on their home court despite being somewhat down this year.

UNI looked SENSATIONAL in the final 10 minutes of the game after Murray State’s Perry went on a ridiculous shooting spree to put them up 7. UNI starting to gel up and playing like they got nothing to lose. Arch madness could be interesting this yr.
